My employer got me disability insurance and payed the premiums for it, how dare they! :argh:

quote:

To: SeekAndFind

But, in fact, the GOP bill is actually worse than Obamacare for two reasons: 1) It will exacerbate the death spiral of fiscal insolvency; and 2) It will destroy the employer market.

I'll post a more detailed review of this later, but this line caught my eye.

I think the author has this all wrong. Destroying the employer market will do more to "fix" health care in this country than anything else that has been discussed.

Think about just how idiotic our employer-based health care system has become. Expecting my employer to cover the cost of my medical insurance is just as ludicrous as expecting my employer to do my grocery shopping for me. This link between employment and health coverage should be severed ASAP. The best way to do this is by treating employer-paid health insurance as a taxable benefit just like anything else.

When my employer purchased a disability insurance policy for me and paid the premium every year, I had to report that premium as taxable income on my tax return. And guess what -- the premium was so low that it hardly even mattered.

I love he carefully slipped that "exept for Armed Services members" in there.

quote:

To: Buckeye McFrog

Now Republicans have their fingerprints on it.”

And that can be avoided very easily and the President can FORCE A BIPARTISAN BILL to Repeal Obamacare.

I will say it again, OBAMACARE WILL NEVER BE REPEALED in any way, shape or fashion. I watched COUNTLESS Government Unions proudly marching and advocating for OBAMACARE on TV all across this Country.

There is ONLY ONE WAY to make it happen:

Executive Orders

1. All waivers to the Affordable Care act are hereby repealed.

2. There shall be NO funds drawn from the treasury to pay for Health Insurance for ANY Federal Employee except Members of the Armed Services.

3. ALL Federal Employees except members of the US Armed Services, SHALL purchase their own personal and Family Health Insurance from the Affordable Care Exchange in the state they legally reside.

And to make sure it is Bipartisan, President Trump should VETO it every Time and FORCE them to Override his Veto to Repeal this Monstrosity.

Sign these 3 orders and it will be FULLY REPEALED in Less than 30 days.

NOT UNTIL, Anyone want to make a BET???

I would also consider another Executive Order Withholding All Transportation Funds from All States that do Not have Their Public Employees enrolled in Obamacare, just to Prove a Point.

When and ONLY WHEN Government Lives under the Same Laws as us will anything substantial happen

I AM TAKING BETS that the Rino Party Will NEVER REPEAL OBAMACARE!

And that is what the republicans have turned into here. Trump said nice things about this bill. All those attempts to repeal were phony as sh1t. They could have just took the last repeal bill Obama vetoed

I disagree it is Government that is the issue not employer. It is a benefit that separates a competitive market looking to attract talent. In fact before Obamacare my healthcare costs were quite small. Because of Obamacare insurance companies have sky rocketed costs and in turn employer has placed a much larger burden on their employees to offset the rise. Trust me it isn’t employers that are the problem it is 100% government interference.

I’ll go one further, Republicans have allowed Dumborats to control the message by forcing them to accept a repeal and replace and an idiot public has bought into the meme. How about just repeal? Just repeal the whole drat thing? Pre Obamacare my costs were cheap.

It has a long way to go before it goes to the president for signature.

Trump could have been the real winner an innovator here by instructing his AG to enforce the Sherman Anti-Trust Act and Wright-Patman on the medical monopolies and insurance companies. Yes we would have had a 10 15% disruption in the GDP and a recession, but the result would have been a drop of at least 80% in Health Care Costs, an opportunity to get rid of the Deficit and Pay Down the Debt with money left over and a renewed vibrant economy. But it will not happen. We are going to have the Fiscal Train wreck and coupled with the Interest on the Debt a blown up budget. Not to mention the real problems for the states and their paying for their share of the Medicaid Expansion. We are all screwed and will be seeing reduced benefits on everything.

AFAIK, by the way, the state line thing isn't actually in the bill. Even if it was, it's a poo poo idea and will result in a race to the bottom in terms of quality of coverage.

quote:

To: jazminerose

Competition will be introduced via allowing ins cos to operate across state lines.

Probably unconstitutional. And if not, what will force insurance companies to sell across state lines?

Pre existing conditions will be covered by special risk pools.

And if your state chooses not to fund a special risk pool?

There will be tax credits to offset the cost of health insurance. And everyone gets to have an HSA.

If they can afford to fund an HSA. And if the credits cover the increasingly expensive premiums.

People who can’t afford to buy will be able to get Medicaid.

If they didn't qualify for Medicaid before Obamacare then they won't be able to get Medicaid under this plan since it eliminates the Medicaid expansion.

Now, what is it I’ve got wrong? I admit to not spending much time on reading the Act.

It doesn't address the Obamcare problem of skyrocketing healthcare insurance premiums.

We are doing the equivalent of turning a huge ocean liner around and setting her on a new course. We are slowly turning in the right direction.

The promise wasn't: We're going to slowly turn this huge ocean liner around.

The promise was: We're going to repeal and replace Obamacare. Period.

The government should NOT be involved in healthcare. Medicare is going to be forever... we don’t want any more.

A very few federal regulations for the health insurance industry is all we need.

1. All insurance policies can be sold in all 50 states
2. Every company needs to offer, among whatever else they want to offer, at least one low cost catastrophic plan.
3. Every company needs to offer at least one high cost pre-existing plan.

The Feds can offer start up funding to states encouraging CHARITIES to run free and low cost clinics in their state.

Its an analogy.

Yes, I know dear.

And nothing in the President's campaign promise suggested a multi-layered phased-in repeal and replace.

If this passes, without helping the people who need help with accessing affordable insurance and healthcare--ie: his voters, the POTUS runs the risk of looking less than honest or less than capable.

It is WAY to early in his term for either ... and I'm not talking about an analogy.

Unfortunately, the republican congress is at the helm.

No, the President is at the helm and the repeal and replacement of Obamacare is one of the reasons.

If Congress is blocking him, he needs to let us know how and we will stand and help push them in the right direction.

But, apparently, the President thinks this plan is "wonderful". So maybe we don't need to be blaming Congress.

The senate has 52 gop seats. The only reason that isn’t sufficient is because they won’t get rid of the disingenuous and duplicitous filibuster.

But that’s really academic. There is no number of senate seats that will suffice for these bums to do what they were elected to do. They could have 99 seats in the senate, the entire house, 49 legislatures, all the governorships, the Presidency, all seats on the supreme court....and still, the gop would be positing reasons why they just can’t get it done.

The simpler and more honest reason is the gop never had any intention whatsoever of doing what it was elected to do. They were as surprised as hitlery on November 8th; they expected to go back to their long term role as the “loyal opposition:”, with their snouts firmly wedged in the public trough. They were surprised, nay horrified to find that they had won. And here we see the result.

They can’t repeal Obamacare, not without insuring huge Democratic majorities in the House and Senate in 2018.

Members of Congress may not know much, but they can count votes like a pimp can count money.

There are two things the voters don’t like about Obamacare - the name, and paying for it. The rest of it, they will never give up.

They can’t repeal the whole thing. That’s just the facts.

The facts are these, Mitch can break the filibuster and repeal this tin, he won't have another chance. This Ryan-McConnel bill will likely cost us the Senate in two years.

If the Uniparty had any real plan to defeat ObamaCare why would they fund it 100% since it passed and even worse they refused to force the President to obey they law and move the bill forward allowing him to postpone the pain of this monstrosity until he left office.

Millions love Trump but several million voted for Trump because they couldn't believe a word the UniParty said. If they start to feel they can't believe Trump, they will drop him like a hot rock. Then where will we be?

We have some downers on these threads because we don't want him to fail, he is someone that genuinely loves this country and the people, but we feel some of his closest advisors don't share our values, hopes and dreams for our Republic.
