From Kellyanne Conway: Trump is ‘all in’ on health care push posted by freeper ColdOne
the article posted:White House counselor Kellyanne Conway said Wednesday that President Trump is “all in” on the push to overhaul Obamacare and said he’s confident he will ultimately sign a version of the House GOP’s health care plan into law.
“The president is confident that the American Health Care Act will pass the House and the Senate and [will] become the law — absolutely,” Ms. Conway said on Fox News.
“He is really husbanding this through,” Ms. Conway said of Mr. Trump. “Some people suggested that he be the closer. Some people suggested he be the leadoff batter. The president and the vice president, are all in here.”

So, it’s official - we get to call it Trumpcare?

President Trump has been doing wonderful things since taking office. And all the bad guys are opposed to him, which is further evidence that he is doing really good things.
That said, he did say that he would work to put into place something like single-payer health care/insurance. Seems he’s following through on that promise.
So, we shouldn’t really be surprised that he’s keeping his word.

Gotta stick with the classics, like "people that get sick deserve to die"
quote:To: Gaffer
Good post, but I would replace #3. I don't know why it gets so much play in these discussions, but it is so far down the list of priorities for two reasons: (1) it goes against the whole idea of state oversight under the Tenth Amendment; and (2) it isn't going to save the consumer much money at the end of the day anyway.
I like my four "must-have" items better (in order):
1. Eliminate the individual and employer mandates.
2. Eliminate any Federal mandates that require insurance coverage for any medical procedure or treatment.
3. Give insurance companies back the ability to impose lifetime limits on coverage.
4. Eliminate any requirement for insurers to cover pre-existing conditions.
Item #1 goes right to the heart of what made ObamaCare such an authoritarian abomination. Items #2 through #4 would enable insurance companies to offer coverage that is actually affordable.

Freeper Theo keeps doubling down on saying Trump should follow through on his empty promise of single payer, and it's really irritating the thread.
quote:To: dynoman
On Jan. 15, 2017, for example, he said that he would “take care of everybody” and that “the government’s gonna pay for it.”
I’m not sure how else to interpret that but to see it as some kind of single-payer system.
Please understand that I’m not slamming President Trump. He is our president, and I support him. He’s been doing some wonderful things since taking office. We should be encouraging him to continue doing wonderful things.
I do, for example, want to have a conversation about where health care/insurance seems to be heading. I’m opposed to Obamacare, and want it completely repealed ... and then at some point laws put into place that facilitate free enterprise solutions. Surely you’re in favor of that too, right?

I remember talking with a libertarian once who said "If you were stranded on a desert island and you proclaimed 'I have the right to food and shelter!' you would die, you have to actually do something to get food and shelter. So just because you have the right to life and liberty and the pursuit of happiness doesn't mean you can sit around on your rear end and have everything handed to you, you have to actually work to get it."
So see you should just work harder to get health care, then you'll have life and liberty and all that.

Yeah, that would work if not for the fact this is a government that declared it, so that government should be honoring it too.

Ooh! Here's a rare bird: liberals are the real transphobes.
quote:
Before the progressives decided to make this a legal issue there was no problem to fix. If you appeared to be a gender you used that genders bathroom. A trans person who was passable could use the other bathroom and nobody knew or thought about it. Along comes the left to fix a non exsistant problem and we have people who are not trans and not passable abusing the new policy as cover to get their jollies at the expense of innocent women and girls trying to use the restroom without men around. So to protect them the policy gets changed to you have to use your biological genders restroom...and that small minority of trans people who had been using the other restroom without us knowing are placed in the akward poition of either appearing to break the law and making others uncomfortable or breaking the law without anyone knowing, or just going out in public as their real gender. Everyone was better off before the left made all this an issue...especially the people they claimed to be helping.

EDIT: holy poo poo, not as rare as I thought. I keep finding more:
quote:
This is yet another problem caused by the Democrats.
For as long as I can remember men (dressed as women) have used the women’s rooms. There have been no problems.
Many of these men do not want to transition into women. They just want to dress up in women’s clothing and wear makeup and a wig. They have no interest in peeking into the next stall.
The Democrats have endangered these men dressed as women. They’re now not allowed in the women’s rooms and they’re not wanted in men’s rooms.

Also, transmen (I think that's the term? Born biologically female, transition to a male identity) don't exist to the right wing. And all transwomen are hideous perverts who only say they're women so they can go inside women's bathrooms and rape women and little girls, in the right-wing mythology.
Why yes, there have been many cases of cis women getting screamed at and assaulted for using the women's bathroom because someone thought they didn't look sufficiently feminine.

I'd love to introduce them to my friend's boyfriend. He's trans, but has been on hormones for so long that he's grown a beard and has a totally flat chest and deepening voice to go with it. You can still tell if you've seen a lot of trans guys before (like the short stature and feminine facial features), but otherwise he'd be indistinguishable from a cis guy.
Now tell them that he needs to use the women's room, beard and all.

It's a shame that campaign of trans people taking pictures of themselves in the bathroom that HB2 required them to use didn't catch on, but I also don't blame people for not wanting to out themselves, either.

This subject came up in a college class I was taking, and I actually googled Buck Angel and showed the woman a picture of him and said "So you're saying this person should use the women's restroom, because they have a vagina." She doubled down on it and said yes, as long as that person had a vagina, they should use the women's restroom.

I heard a Rand Paul radio interview on Tuesday. He stated that he had a good relationship with Trump, had talked to him several times, & Trump was interested in his ideas regarding repeal/replace and was listening to what he had to say. Rand was very upbeat and positive in his comments on this topic. Last night, Trump met with the Freedom Caucus. Trump likes smart people with good ideas and one of his greatest assets, per people who know him personally & who have worked with him in the private sector, is that he is a GOOD listener. Of course, the enemedia want the Republicans to have a public catfight over Obamacare & if it’s not happening, they’ll make one up .... just as they want to portray the WH as being in utter chaos & a disaster. When I hear news about repeal/replace from Rand Paul, Dave Brat, etc. and/or Trump himself (speaking in a serious venue, not tweeting), then I’ll believe what I’m hearing. The media/enemedia/presstitutes/Opposition Party have NO credibility with me any more.

This is the point where we are faced with the fact that Trump has, what Ted Cruz called "New York values".
We've kind of known this all along, but might have been hoping it wasn't true.
In any case, I believe Trump is not opposed to government health care, or government managed health care insurance. And I believe he holds that view with the noblest intention- that anyone who is sick should have access to health care services. He's trying to re-work the system so that it's not as punitive to hard-working people, and companies.
In the long run, while I am opposed to government-mandated health insurance, I trust Trump on enough of his other agenda that I would support him on this.
Ultimately, if we can get more and more people working good jobs, and caring for their families, the less of an issue this becomes, and the health insurance companies will have a more stable environment to offer competitive insurance rates.

Obamacare cannot be fixed. It cannot be fixed.
There are two choices:
Repeal Obamacare and replace it with a brand new free market based system.
-or-
If that is not realistically doable of is just too much trouble for today’s politicians to handle, then just walk away completely and let it die on its own.
Then put in place a brand new free market based system afterwards.

Jordan is correct— vote to repeal. The funding is in place to allow the transition.
Not buying this. With a simple majority and a phased transition for all currently under the broken obamaumaocare “plans” -funds for which can be provided in the interim and coverage not lost— a completely market driven setup, with insurance sold across state lines and NOT medicaid for all— could drive down care prices, subsidized medical stocks prices, hospital “non-care” and all of the other way over inflated “costs” being ratcheted and passed on. It can be done. We should no longer support a brit national health care that was doomed to failure and is failing, and intended as such- to fail.

quote:To: dynoman
That's extremely simple
Repeal all laws(and corresponding regulations) at every level of Government that were passed after 1900.Go back to the Constitution before the 16th Amendment. the constitution actually works .
there are ROOMS full of pages of government laws and regulations all passed after 1900 . Trying to fix that is impossible . Start over .Reset.
Government regulations only increase costs and cripple businesses. Regularly every week or so governments at all 3 levels pile on more laws and regulations especially on healthcare. as a result of that an operations costs $80,000. it's not in spite of those room fulls of regulations but becauseo that crap that the costs are so high.
An android phone $9 has more computing power than the world did in 1970 . That's because less gov regulations in electronics.
Politicians and unelected government bureaucrats know only one say to "fix" things more laws and more government regulations. And that is problem as Reagan said.

I get it— negotiate. But please— from strength and well established homework. Not forced errors out of being in a political hurry, driven by greedy statist lobbyists. We don’t have to lose the current “gibs me dats” on the subsidy— so we won’t have their whining, and can give them their “path” to follow into the non-obamaumaocare plan. Physicians can tell us all how this is. Price HHS should be a help.
House Senate conference, clearly. But make sure the devilish details are ALL ironed out— we’ve had 8 years of absolute dreck.

Bottom line, Trump is going to do some things I don’t like & I knew that going in when I voted for him, but the overall positives of having him as President outweighed the negatives and I wish people criticizing Trump would keep that in mind. The details of repeal/replace may be one of those items where I’m not as happy as I’d like to be at the end of the day, but at this point, it’s way too early & too much is up in the air for me to know for sure. Brat is my Rep - a great one - and I agree with him/Rand Paul. That being said, I am trusting Trump because I do believe he is trying to do the best he can for America. He’s got slimeballs like Ryan & his RINO/GOPe cabal and a less than America-first Congress he HAS to deal with so nothing is going to be perfect. Do I let Brat know what I think? Yes, I do so that’s where I can get some small satisfaction participating in the process.
I’m personally not fighting with anyone over this stuff on FR or otherwise, especially when an Opposition Party story is what’s muddying up the water. Sure, there is contention among the Repubs on this - I’m not saying there isn’t a catfight to some degree, but the Opposition Party will lie to super-size whatever dissension/discussion/negotiating is going on & they get a two-fer that damages Trump & the Repubs for throwing out the bait & having folks snap it up as being the ‘reality on the ground’. Fool me once, shame on you - fool me twice, shame on me/us .... and the Oppo Party/media has demonstrated repeatedly beyond a reasonable doubt that they are not a reliable purveyor of genuine or accurate news. Personally, I’ll wait to hear the details, in person, from a non-media source who is one of the parties actually involved in the process. I also have a sneaking suspicion that Trump might surprise folks with being fairly good at herding cats.

Beware of the one called "Paul!"
quote:To: RedWulf
Be careful of Paul. He can seem trustworthy on some things and he may indeed be trustworthy on some things.
But he is not clean and pure, far from it. But he knows how to talk the talk and fool a lot of folks.
Note how he was bought off in the effort to remove congressional Obamacare exemptions and subsidies in 2015:
https://www.conservativereview.com/commentary/2015/04/rand-paul-leads-effort-to-block-senate-fraud-investigation
He first supported and then turned on the Senate fraud investigation causing it to die in committee. That is not the act of a trustworthy person.
I posted about this many times and saw him for a typical republican weasel which he is.
I would just caution to be careful not to put all trust in political weasels.
Remember what candidate Trump said, “they are all bought and paid for, they are all controlled”.

I believe he holds that view with the noblest intention- that anyone who is sick should have access to health care services.
The road to hell is paved with good intentions, so they say.
The President has fallen into the same sort of utopian thinking (on this issue) that is resonsible for building the entitlement state and leviathan government, which have become an absolute tyranny over us all, and has reduced a formerly free people to slaves of the elites and the non-productive class.
This is a moment where we must genuinely reflect on our shared American principles of individual liberty, and judge the proposed solutions of our representatives in that light.
If their solutions violate the fundamentals of those concepts which undergird the Framers' construction, then we must reject those solutions, no matter what loyalty we may harbor towards our leaders or the party.

Unfortunately they won't learn a thing from this and just fall lockstep behind the next Republican to grace the stage (till he's outed as a RINO too)

Yet where is that woman now? Tell me, in what heave does she reside? None of them. Because no God bothered to listen or care. If that is what you think it means to be a God, then you and all your teachings are welcome to do as that poor women did. And vanish from these realms forever.

"I know liberals like to say bad things about the literal embodiment of evil, Satan, Lightbringer, Luckier, Lord of Darkness, Bane of Kings, Archenemy of God the Almighty, but, dammit, he's a Republican and isn't a RINO so he's got my vote. I mean, how else would a Christian vote in this situation? I must stop the Muslim hordes and electing Satan as our leader is the only way to deter them. "

Are the incidence rates for the GenX/Millenials broken down by sex?
I'm guessing among the young'uns, that many more women engage in receptive anal sodomy, than the men.

Other reasons blamed are tofu, starbucks, marxist propaganda, obesity, preservatives, too many veggies, and too much government intrusion crawling up their asses.
