I named the two horses I bothered to take to stables "slowhorse" and "horse" because I have put 30-40 hours into this game and find horses to almost never be useful at all. Mounted combat can be kinda fun though (but usually I get into doing that from knocking a bokoblin off his horse and stealing it then murdering all of his friends in a horseback rampage)

My horse was named Blade because I let my three year old name him. I probably hosed up because I sold that horse without telling him.

dogsicle posted:Are there upper limits on upgrading your hearts/stamina? Yeah, you can have 3 full rings of Stamina or 30 Hearts. They're slightly exclusive as even with all shrines you only have enough for 30 upgrades (+4 hearts from the dungeons) so you can get 27 Hearts/full Stamina or 30 hearts/ 2 2/5 of a bar of stamina.

Anyone know where you can spawn those 3 large elemental dragons so I can get their parts? It seems I can only find them when I don't want to. I already purified the one at top of Mount Lanayru. Now it I can't find it again.

Open world games tend to have a large areas of empty land you're just walking through so it isn't that Breath of the Wild is breaking the mold. It's that the expectation given by all the previews and reviews was that Breath of the Wild was breaking the mold.

It's fun as hell to kill a Talus in a single heavy weapon spin attack actually.

I think playing on a Wii U gamepad is giving me tendinitis. My thumb wants to lay on X and A, not Y/B, and I have to claw to hit L and R instead of ZL/ZR. Anyone with a remotely similar experience? Pro pad help? I'd kill to use a dualshock

I'd still prefer a dualshock or even the Switch pro controller if I had a Switch, but the Wii U one works much better. I think the layout of the right stick versus the buttons is noticeably more comfortable there.

I think the layout of the right stick versus the buttons is noticeably more comfortable there. I have 3 pro controllers for my Wii U and I vastly prefer the Wii U controller for Zelda because the button positioning on the Pro controllers is terrible and I always end up hitting "jump" instead of "attack" So during long play sessions I use the Wii U controller for combat and exploration and switch out for the Pro controllers when I'm running around town and cooking (so that the Wii U controller can charge)

You need 2 and 1/2. Or you could cook some stamina restoring food and chug it down during the ride. Or some max-stamina increasing food. Staying in the Rito village and choosing the more expensive option will get you a full extra bar of stamina for 80 rupees.

Zaphod42 posted:Pro pad is way more comfortable but Y/B is a terrible control scheme and there's nothing you can do about that I think Y/B is a fine control scheme if only because it's analogous to what most other melee action games do: left button for melee, lower button for some sort of mobility (though it's usually jumping). That part's fine, and I usually get tripped up when Zelda games tend to use something other than Y (the left button) for swinging the sword. The problem is the position of sprinting and jumping buttons and the fact that how well the control scheme works for you is going to depend a lot on whether you're using a Wii U or Switch controller layout. For example, having jump on X (the top button) is fine on the Wii U, because your thumb is probably resting close to there or on the right stick anyway, but it's going to be a lot more awkward on the Switch. Luckily you can flip that, but now your sprint button is out-of-the-way, and that's true on the Wii U anyway. And I can imagine that the Y/B scheme is more natural on the Switch controller because it's got a layout like the Xbox controller, but it works fine for me on the Wii U, at least on the Pro Controller. I kind of wish they'd have put sprinting on left stick click like a lot of other games and found somewhere else to put crouching so that you could sprint-jump, but at the same time, sprint-jumping at least doesn't matter all that much in this (at least in my experience so far).
