This was after he told them he would campaign to get it banned in the first place. He's got no spine, no conviction, and he actively made the state worse by opposing the one good thing Casino Mike did for zero gain.

We still have GTV and all that convoluted poo poo so we won't have a real picture of the layout for a few days. Either way Labor are going to have a free ride for 4 years. The only question is whether they need Green votes in the upper house. Which would be best case scenario.

So the Liberal environment minister lost his seat in an election where building a highway through pristine wetlands was a major election issue. His replacement in the new ALP government was the head of the WA Conversation Council. Nice to have someone in that role who actually gives a poo poo about the environment. Also no-one can ever compare WA to QLD again.

I'm looking forward to the Liberal right's response to this. Turns out all of the media comparisons between PHON and Trump/Brexit were a load of poo poo, and maybe lurching to the right isn't the saving throw they thought it was. I'm not sure this is going to empower Dutton a great deal, although it may still damage Turnbull if he tries to drop Budget 2014 Version 2.0 in May. I'm pretty sure they're still turbofucked, and being a byelection away from losing their lower house majority, it's gonna be a fun year.

My local member, Rob Johnson (formerly lib, but left the party in 2016 and went Independant Lib for this election) managed to save Peter Katsambanis' rear end as the contesting Liberal because he helped split the vote against Labor, and in the end neither got in, so Libs got lucky in my electorate. Still suffered a 21.6% swing against, so he's got nothing to crow about. Further to the North, Jan Norberger, a guy who you literally hear nothing from until the election croped up, got completely obliterated. I have to say, I am loving this result more and more. Libs chucked out, and One Nation told to gently caress off. Good work, WA.
