If Turnbull gets knifed and replaced with someone as staggeringly incompetent as Dutton, Federal politics are highly likely to reach down and have a large impact.

This man is correct.

Luke Foley's biggest contribution to NSW politics was forcing the governemnt to overturn the Greyhound ban, the one policy that was widely supported by Labor voters, Green voters, and inner city Liberal voters. This was after he told them he would campaign to get it banned in the first place.

He's got no spine, no conviction, and he actively made the state worse by opposing the one good thing Casino Mike did for zero gain.

The SA Liberals are also the worst, aimless, most talent free branch of either major party in the country, so bad that they tried to talk Alexander Downer out of his retirement and into state politics to take the leadership (and failed badly even at that) - if this power thing works, and the move into the new hospital goes smoothly, they'll have essentially nothing to campaign on.

Well once you move past "gently caress the poor" and "steal everything" then the only LNP policy left is "nothing" so I'd say they're working well within intended parameters.

WA Election 2017: Pauline Hanson visits measles-ridden One Nation senator Peter Georgiou

PAULINE Hanson’s new WA senator is holed up in hospital recovering from a nasty bout of measles, diagnosed while his leader was copping a national tongue-lashing over her controversial comments about childhood vaccinations.

The condition of Peter Georgiou was kept secret during the toxic State election campaign but can be revealed today by PerthNow.

This picture shows a fatigued Senator Georgiou in isolation in Perth Royal Hospital, smiling for a photo with Senator Hanson and party whip, Senator Brian Burstin, who are wearing face masks to protect themselves from contracting the disease. Apart from wearing the mask, Senator Hanson doesn’t appear to be fazed by Senator Georgiou’s condition and is leaning in close for the snap.

The burly electrical contractor-turned politician, described by those who know him as “genuine” and a “nice fella” has been in hospital since Monday.

He fell ill after a trip to Bali. Doctors were unsure of his condition for several days until tests revealed it was measles. It is understood he was vaccinated for measles in childhood.

Senator Hanson, who sources say is aware of the irony of the circumstance, broke away from her election campaign to check on and congratulate Senator Georgiou after a High Court Chief Justice on Friday declared he would replace his brother-in-law Rod Culleton in the Senate.

Mr Culleton — whose relationship with Senator Hanson soured last year — was disqualified from the Senate because a previous conviction meant he was ineligible to have been elected.

Senator Georgiou’s illness has been so tightly held it is understood not even Mr Culleton was aware he was ill.

It is also understood Mr Culleton had not visited Senator Georgiou in hospital.

Senator Hanson was criticised by doctors and Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull for saying parents should get their kids tested before they were vaccinated. She compared making parents vaccinate their kids so they could keep family tax benefits to a “dictatorship”.

She later apologised, but PerthNow understands it was not the condition of Senator Georgiou that sparked the about-turn.

“I have heard a couple of doctors have said there is no test,” she told Channel Seven’s Sunrise program on Thursday.

“If that be the case, I am wrong. I do apologise. Vaccinations have controlled a lot of diseases. I admit that.”

I'd take the Legislative Council predictions with a pinch of salt. We still have GTV and all that convoluted poo poo so we won't have a real picture of the layout for a few days.

Either way Labor are going to have a free ride for 4 years. The only question is whether they need Green votes in the upper house. Which would be best case scenario.

So the Liberal environment minister lost his seat in an election where building a highway through pristine wetlands was a major election issue. His replacement in the new ALP government was the head of the WA Conversation Council. Nice to have someone in that role who actually gives a poo poo about the environment.

Also no-one can ever compare WA to QLD again.

I'm looking forward to the Liberal right's response to this. Turns out all of the media comparisons between PHON and Trump/Brexit were a load of poo poo, and maybe lurching to the right isn't the saving throw they thought it was.

I'm not sure this is going to empower Dutton a great deal, although it may still damage Turnbull if he tries to drop Budget 2014 Version 2.0 in May.

I'm pretty sure they're still turbofucked, and being a byelection away from losing their lower house majority, it's gonna be a fun year.

Give it to me straight...
My local member, Rob Johnson (formerly lib, but left the party in 2016 and went Independant Lib for this election) managed to save Peter Katsambanis' rear end as the contesting Liberal because he helped split the vote against Labor, and in the end neither got in, so Libs got lucky in my electorate. Still suffered a 21.6% swing against, so he's got nothing to crow about. Further to the North, Jan Norberger, a guy who you literally hear nothing from until the election croped up, got completely obliterated. I have to say, I am loving this result more and more. Libs chucked out, and One Nation told to gently caress off. Good work, WA.
