If I have Queen, is gate of destiny worth farming for from the moogle king? I don't have any other characters to use other than Queen that can be 6* yet apart from Bartz and Luka, who are both 5* and 4* still. Just started the game, and with my initial free 11 summon I'm currently running exdeath, Kain, Garland, Terra, and chizuru. It probably isn't the most powerful team, and I actually have a couple 4 stars I could use (vanille and Mercedes), but those feel boring!

Barring better options Vanille isn't a terrible support unit to use, she gets both Cheer and Focus to buff units as well as Cura and Esuna to heal. Mercedes is probably a better option than either Kain or Garland at the moment, simpy by virtue of being able to be awakened to 6*.

Finally beat stupid Gilgamesh. Had to craft a water blade for Bartz, then equip him with Kaiser knuckles and a coral sword. Got a lucky run and managed to get everything but no items in. Special thanks to the 1100 atk Olive goon for the damage.

Cecil/Zidane/Exdeath etc. are part of the "rare" 3* pull set, why would 5* work any differently. Thinking it had anything to do with the freebie pull is silly. Oh man, bit the bullet on finally downloading an emulator to tmr farm overnight and hooooly poo poo is it great to not be wasting energy while I sleep anymore! Hopefully we've got a little break before the next farming event because I want Olive loaded with Doublehand and Sparky when the next one rolls around, and I'd PREFER not to spend many thousands of Lapis to make that happen (but I will. So loving help me, I WILL). edit: Speaking of the mog king event... I've got four characters I want to bring to 6* in the near future: Refia, Luka, Warrior of Light, and Exdeath. I'm using 5* Lenna right now as my healer, but a lot of her MP gets chewed up by Cheer, with 6* Cecil picking up the slack on Curaja spam, but WoL's 6* is supposed to be GREAT and coming real soon, and my current mage is 5* Arc who I wouldn't mind replacing with an evil tree man. Basically, I have the 6* mats for Luka and Refia ready to go, but I probably won't have time to farm 6* mats for both WoL AND Exdeath. Luka and Refia are both great to have at 6* but Refia just in general is better, even more when you drop a DualCast materia her way. She's strong and hard to kill, got native immunities to a handful of status changes on top of that. It's just that sometimes Luka is better. Plus, sometime you might want to have two healers running. Keep Luka around for the future.

Luka is best for "No White Magic" conditions, as her big heal is not even considered magic at all. Otherwise, Refia is overall the better character and will benefit from Dualcast, where Luka will not. The magical trinity of healers on the JP side is as follows: Ayaka (best healing throughput by miles, has dualcast innately) Y'shtola (Dark Fina with heals, has dualcast innately, also AoE damage reduction) Rem (Exdeath with heals, has dualcast innately) Tilith (powerful if MP-intensive heals, best buffs, mana battery, can 100% prevent stat down debuffs, etc.) Aria (a better Luka, focused on buffs instead of offence) Hunter Fina (also a better Luka, plus she can mana battery) Luka (gets around certain pesky win conditions, best offence for a 4* base, easily replaced by Aria later on) Refia (tanky healer that can take hits, nigh indestructible if set up right) Note that we only have Luka and Refia in the final 6* forms right now. Tilith is still at 5*, and the rest have not been released yet. For filthy casuals, Tilith is going to be your brass ring, as the nuke mages and Ayaka are 5* base, but there's no guarantee we'll get her again. There's also no guarantee we'll get Hunter Fina, as she's a Monster Hunter crossover char. Barring those two, Aria is probably going to be the next easily attained "good" healer to come along, as she has the same AoE raise that Ling is known for, plus Protectga/Shellga. But if you can only afford to 6* her or refia right now, go for Refia and save Luka for when you're sitting on a surplus of materials.
