And also, like I said, this opens up another slot for regular rotation, which I feel we needed, since more than half the block is going to be the same for at least a year. Nothing wrong with long series, there just needs to be a good balance.

My surprise mostly stems from the fact that Naruto is the show they apparently can't sell full ad space for given it's where they air all those music videos or whatever but OP is the first show of the two to go. Like in general I'm fine with OP going because it's about to get really bad as a show but Naruto hit that point long ago and it's just...I mean ideally they're both gone, but it's weird for things to happen in this order to me.

Gundam Unicorn is not a long running show, but since it's part of a franchise it feels like one. I'm also concerned Toonami's going to feel obligated to show sequel series and seasons and fans will request the poo poo out of them. Ten of the shows airing in Japan this Spring are going to be sequels, not counting existing shows like Dragon Ball Super and Blue Exorcist: Kyoto Saga. livingfruitvirus fucked around with this message at 23:33 on Mar 12, 2017 |

I believe by the end of the year. I'd expect at least a trailer at like Comic-Con or some other convention.

Yeah, the minute I heard a Blue Exorcist sequel/reboot was coming out, I figured "well I guess that'll be on Toonami soon". I'm kinda still expecting it any time. I'd much prefer a new show to something like that. On the other hand apparently there's gonna be a second season of One Punch Man and if that doesn't air I'll be pissed.

I don't know how they're gonna make room for all this poo poo. They're assumedly going to air the next season of JoJo too whenever that dub finally comes out. I believe they've already said as much.

At this point, I hope they do to Naruto: Shippuden what they did with DBZ: Kai and create a new series that cuts out all the filler and the flashbacks. Filler is the obvious choice to go, but man the flashbacks are the worst when an episode starts off with the last 3 minutes of the previous episode, then cuts to a flashback that they've already shown like 10 times in the series. I've lost count of how many times they've shown Obito being crushed under a rock. The show is about to hit 500 episodes, but 44% of it is mediocre filler. Cut all that out, and I bet you could get the series under 200 episodes.

I was like this is pretty cool how the villain knows his plan won't work in the long run, but does it anyway because the gears have to keep turning. Actions okay, a bit to much melodrama about characters who don't matter. Then this poo poo dropped and I was like "wut?"

No, you also need to be just straight-up incompetent and a bad writer in general otherwise we wouldn't get such franchise staples as "scene where characters have extended monologues about loving beliefs and politics to the entertainment of absofuckinglutely nobody," or "episode of a Space Mech show where nobody touches a loving Space Mech," or "character is a whiny poo poo who won't shut the gently caress up and pull their head out of their rear end"
