Jimmy G *shouldn't* fetch a king's ransom, and the Browns having a plan something like the Raiders followed to become good again would absolutely be the sensible thing to do - but NFL teams go do stupendously loving stupid poo poo to self-sabotage every goddamn year. Nobody has said the Browns could not be stupid enough to in this discussion though. Everyone has rightly said that this type of move would be a pretty big reversal of policy for this regime. It is a valid question to ask why they would suddenly start doing so now. But if you just answer the Browns, it seems less like a reasonable outcome and more like wishful thinking.
