Something that ME:A seems to go out of it's way to make sure you weren't before it was thrust upon you, but everyone is still acting like you were.

Yeah, and it rushes to play you as Jesus faster even than Shepard. Shepard gets to the Citadel and has to work to prove Saren's crimes in an uphill manner. Then he becomes a spectre and that just lets him play super cop. Here people start acting like you are their savior before you even get a ship.
