Hey look, another Formula 1 overtaking comittee. http://www.grandprix.com/ns/ns35954.html But this one is different. They will actually put two cars in a wind tunnel to see what the impact of the Aero is. quote:"Previously, we did experiments in wind tunnels but it was a compromise because it didn't include the use of two cars. Ferrari given liberty shares? Is this supposed to be a good thing? I was hoping Are Chance was going to kick those Goombah Dago bastards to the curb and make them race for money like everyone else, and now they still have a seat at the big table? Strike one against Liberty.

I'm just looking forward to some interesting races where the first 2 steps on the podium are all but a given for a particular team. Maybe this sweet summer F1 child just hasn't been through enough winters, but I'm cautiously optimistic. I've been catching up on this thread (don't ask me why) after being away for awhile, and as an American who couldn't have told you the difference between an Indy and an F1 car prior to 2011, let me just say that I'm really excited for what Liberty is doing and I really believe that better access wrt watching and sharing the experience with others online (paid streaming, more clips on youtube or w/e) will actually have a sizable impact on viewership in the US. The TV programming needs some improvement but owning a DVR fixes about half of those problems by itself and I don't know who in the gently caress would be watching F1 in the US that can't afford one these days. Maybe that's elitist but so is F1. My wife was the one that turned me on to this sport mostly by just watching it with her. Before that, F1 was so far off my radar that when a mutual friend set us up on our first date and told me she was really into cars and auto-racing I just reflexively assumed it was NASCAR poo poo and was this close to going "nah, I'll pass." Nothing against the sport really, but the people and the culture, yeesh.

I was too busy away from work to read anything about the testing going on over the last couple of weeks so it worked out okay--there were some pretty funny comments while the McLaren Honda was constantly shaking itself to death. I think the bigger concern is that the discourse in this thread feels...normal to me.
