Anyone watch Iron fist on Netflix? It's gaaaaaarbage, like mid 90's cheap action film garbage.

Who cares how "hummable" a score is as long as it serves the film? Scores aren't pop singles, how they function as part of the gestalt viewing experience is far more important to me than if I can whistle it to myself on the bus a week later.

I can hum almost every score I hear. The A Team movie? Hummable. The Mummy 3? Hate it but yeah, can do. All of Zimmers themes are super hummable. But I'm weird so. Also imo they didn't use the Doc Strange motif enough.

Timby posted:Very much so, especially the first two movies -- Barbossa's curse and overall appearance is inspired by LeChuck, Will and Elizabeth by Guybrush and Elaine, Tia Dalma by the Voodoo Lady, even the pirate town made from pieces of wrecked ships is straight from Monkey Island 2. Ted Elliott, who wrote the first few movies with Terry Rossio, was developing a Monkey Island movie script for Spielberg before the project was scrapped, so it's pretty clear he recycled a bunch of his work when he was hired to rewrite Curse of the Black Pearl. I especially like how Commodore Norrington in the second movie looks pretty close to Guybrush in the second game.

I wouldn't call it garbage so much as mostly bland. I'm only on episode 3though. I like the play between the sibling bosses, however. The ones who currently run the Rand Foundation.

That's exactly what they were doing, though. They were her students and were doing some sort of lovely exercise. I'm not defending the mediocre fight scenes. Honestly, though, Luke Cage minus Marhershala Ali's foil and an amazingly diagetic/environmental soundtrack (and general character flavor) is also super loving bland. Iron Fist just wastes a lot of Iron Fist potential. It feels like these first four episodes could have been compressed into one. And his naivete si kinda annoying. His response to taking control of a multi-billion dollar company and being told not to go crazy was "okay, sure. Whatever." It's kinda become like an Adam Sandler movie. But I guess it opens the door for lazy corporate intrigue or whatever. Drifter fucked around with this message at 21:35 on Mar 18, 2017 |

Folks aren't exaggerating and I can totally understand someone bowing out after that. It really is on par with like the made for TV movies that would pop up throughout the early 90s like Vanishing Son, Invincible, etc. And the main character is consistently a bland idiot from start to finish. LMAO Invincible was so bad but since Mel Gibson and Jet Li were among the people who produced it TNT kept promoting it as ***JET LI'S*** Invincible. But you know The Ancient One from Dr. Strange? Invincible features Billy Zane as that exact same character.

Lex Luthor was the best part of Smallville. Rosenbaum is good stuff. He's been in some funny small comedy movies as well.

Rosenbaum also kinda emberased himself when he tried to use social media to push him as Lex in the DC Snyderverse. At the time BvS only existed as a concept so it was a good idea at the time. Guy's probably thanking every god that'll listen for that backfiring on him.

I recently watched Christopher Reeves first Superman movie. It had been ages since I saw those and I was pleasantly surprised how much I enjoyed them for a late seventies Superhero movie it does not feel dated. Christopher Reeves ability to go from Superman to Clark Kent is really good; Hackman's Luther is bit campy but he really embraces the mortal man battling agod with nothing but his wits aspect of the character, everything else is very solid.
