The differences should have been, well, bigger. We've seen blue and white before - it's the colors of the Systems Alliance, worn by Ashley and Kaidan in ME3. Perhaps the Andromeda Initiative could have gone with a scheme utilizing green? After all, it might help tie the multi-species cooperative effort to the whole Synthesis idea. That's just off the top of my head.

But a palette inversion is just lazy.

When there is so much legitimate ammo to use against this game, complaining about poo poo like this is about as loving asinine as it gets. Jesus christ.

Actually...no, we haven't seen the Andromeda Initiative schema of overall white with light blue highlights before. I mean, we have, but not in this context.

Ashley and Kaidan's armor in ME3 was dark navy blue, almost indigo. Any lighter highlights are minimal and understated. It matches the Systems Alliance identity of sci-fi military personnel; Shepard's own uniforms in ME3 were comparable. The impression it gives is "We're serious military people doing serious military things. Things are pretty serious, eh?" which fits with ME3's overall tone.

The Andromeda Initiative's primary color base is white with paler blue trims. It gives the impression of being less militaristic, less solemn. The impression instead is that of scientists, doctors, or astronauts (think: Liara). Cerberus went with a comparable design, except Cerberus also had heavy black portions on their outfits to make sure we knew they were just a little bit hardcore or whatever.

You say they literally inverted the colors, and that's technically true. The problem is that this isn't a problem!..not when the inverted colors give a completely different design impression that fits with the completely different impression that the Andromeda Initiative should have.

Nah.

Buy it or make it. You can buy it from the salvager in camp 1 or whatever for 800 monies (I sold all the scrap I collected for 2400 monies so it's not too hard to get there) or make it at the research thing on the ship.

Development Screen at the lab -- you start with the blueprint already. It's even better in Andromeda: it's really lightweight. I had 100% power recharge with it.

You also start with a couple of blueprints like the Disciple, which is weirdly heavy now.

There's a weapon and armour shop on your ship, the scavenger guy you meet on Eos sells stuff and hangs out near a shuttle at Site 1 and there are two shops at the Nexus near where you dock the ship. You also start with/pick up a bunch of schematics you can craft at the start of the game. I have a level 2 N7 Valkyrie and kicks like a fuckin' mule.

ME:A is not great but at least people are honest about it. The Witcher series is ridiculously overhyped. They're not awful, but their writing is banal and packed with cliches. I really don't understand why goons think "guy with muscles grumbles vaguely threatening things for twelve hours" is good writing.

The Witcher is fun because you get to run around hitting poo poo with your sword and being the bastard child of Sly Stallone and an anime schoolgirl. It's good entertainment, but don't pretend it's Flannery O'Connor.

it's good pulpy adventure that manages to deliver a decent amount humour, mystery and pathos, in both the main story and the sidequests. that might seem like damning with faint praise but this puts it above 99.9% of all other game writing.

it's also (overuse of the thematically consistent but dull detective mode stuff aside) actually fun to play. this puts it ahead of a surprising amount of games.

coupled with a level of polish exceeding games that cost like 5 times as much to make

it's not hard to see why people find it impressive

Oh yeah 100% agreed. The Witcher is good, but goons seem to think it's ***high art*** for some reason. The writing is boilerplate but for a big RPG that's about as good as you're gonna get. Video game writing is generally garbage, though there are notable exceptions and things are changing.

It's funny because I think Night in the Woods is super good on that front, and goons were off comparing it to that awkward Ryder romance dialogue.

the first time i played me3 i did it without importing a save, didn't touch the multiplayer (which i regret now that i hear it was actually good) and just didn't do any of the citadel fetchquests because, i mean, i'd rather eat my own poo poo.

the consequence of this unwillingness to waste my time was that my skills/resources were so artificially low that it became impossible to get a 'good' outcome in most of the major choices, so the entire game was like this giant confusing milieu of characters just up and hating me or dying. i maintain this is the environment me3 should be played in at least once, because when the whole game's this confusing mess with a schizophrenic tone the ending doesn't look nearly as bad. like everyone went insane between games and failed to prepare for imminent disaster. call it the 'trumpocalypse' playthrough or something

ME3 is a really good game until the last hour of the singleplayer campaign.
And that's with the free alternate ending DLC, and the Leviathan DLC that does a poor job of tying off the raggedly cut short parts of the ending.
Without them, the scale of how bad the ending was did genuinely become the defining point of the three game campaign.
