Just finished the A route, was feeling really ripped off by such a short game until I looked up the endings guide and realized I had a long way to go :downs:

I believe that it should, because it tracks every single sound, include the BGM. Might be hard to distinguish though.

do not start a new game on hard mode. everything can and will one shot you in the beginning and you will not have fun. Start off on easy or normal, and up the difficulty as you go along when things feel too easy

I already beat the game on Normal with the best ending and such. I could just normal mode the tutorial and then switch over to hard but what is the Nier experience without pain and suffering

Just finished C. Route B definitely lulled me into a false sense of security, so I was really impressed with C. The depression and hopelessness are palpable. I loved the small and large changes in the world. I think the small open world was used quite effectively. It lets you see the impact your actions have. I hope D and E explain the details a bit more because I only got the large plot points.

At first I really disliked A2's mechanics, but I learned to love taunting once I equipped the chip for it.

It's very easy to cheese bosses/tough enemies with triple pod bombings. Especially if you taunt first. The main thing holding this strategy back is how many bosses are on timers instead of pure health.

if you're asking how to use the scanner at all, equip it (it's a pod program) and hold l1 (or w/e you have that bound to)

the closer you get to something of interest, the faster the scanner will beep. once you're close enough, the pod will shine a light in the direction of what you're looking for. they're only in the flooded city and you don't need the scanner to find them

So, I have an odd question for those of you with any knowledge of Japanese. (Route B spoilers) So, when 9S is trapped in his own mind or whatever and Adam is messing with him, Adam says something along the lines of "You're thinking about how much you want to **** 2b , aren't you?". I assumed the point of that statement was that **** could stand for both "gently caress" or "kill", since they're both four letter words and fit into the weird sex-and-violence themes that the game has going, like with the strangling scene. But the game is Japanese, which makes me wonder - what was that line in the original Japanese text? Having **** stand for either word only works in English. Do they do something similar, or did it perhaps turn out that they were explicitly referring to one word, not both?

The original line is: お前は2Bを……△※したいと、思ってるんだろう?(Omae wa 2B wo... △※ shitai to, omotterundarou?) My immediate read was that it was sexual since text is usually only censored that way in Japanese when it's something really explicit. fwiw I've only seen the gently caress/kill debate crop up on English boards, Japanese consensus (and fan art lol) leans toward the former interpretation. I think the point of the line being censored is so you can read it both ways, though.

Currently on Route B so who knows what C/D/E have. I figure at some point i'm going to be playing as A2 because they were kind of a loose thread in Route A.

I hope Taro Yoko and Platinum do a lot more team-ups in the future. This game is pretty god drat amazing and the soundtrack is just as incredible as the first's.

Also (Route B intro spoilers) I really liked getting ending G by accident, and also seeing myself dick around in the options menu. Both of those things caught me so off guard

Can't wait to see how Route B punches me in the dick.

It's a great bit of design in the context of the rest of the game. In comparison to 2B, A2, the android who's fully given up on concepts like "love," has had all of her costume's sex appeal literally slough off of her, leaving only the body of a killer behind.

FINALLY beat the intro on hard mode, although I didn't feel like the difficulty was actually that overwhelming and I'm just a total moron and have been relying too much on the game's visual cues. We'll see how long it takes me to adjust to actually being careful, and I'm interested to see which weapons I end up favoring this time around when I can't just healtank through enemy hits with offensive heal chips. I recorded it, but the audio is fuckey and I spent 80% of the time using the pod and avoiding combat, so I'll wait until I get into the next part of the game and can actually give some insight on combos and melee game mechanics to bother posting anything, now that I can actually save I'm gonna play way more aggressively.

On my end I didn't realize that Route C was temporally contiguous... I plowed through all of A2's sections and then got to 9S and Pascal is chilling at the village with no memories of anything, and he sells machine parts including a kid's core. :smith:

For some reason I thought it would rewind and I'd see his 3 parts happening simultaneously alongside 2A's, with him like being in the desert when he gets the distress call from Pascal but then he gets there just I time to see 2A killing everything and leaving, just to give him more fuel for the fire.

Whelp. Should be interesting to see where this goes...

I'm on my first playthough of this and passed the first/quest point of no return, not the real one? I killed the boss in the flooded city and I met some characters at the resistance camp who gave me a finding device/chip. I have looked through my chips and don't see one to equip. I've been most places on the game map, not everywhere but a lot of places. I am searching for Yorha members and 9s. I haven't seen any indicators that my finder thing is equipped or working. Any general advice, like, what area do I go to next / how to use the device?
