What were peoples end-game setups? I went with double fists, wire/slow, overclock and deadly heal chips and it was tons of fun. Especially when controlling A2 in berserker mode

Oxygen Deficiency posted:You have to farm them from the stubby legs machines. It's annoying because the game doesn't exactly tell you to do this, it just says "oh these guys drop them" with no map update. It would've been nice if they indicated they were a rare drop instead of leaving the player wondering if they're doing it wrong. I had to look up a walkthrough. I think if you talk to the quest giver again, there's a dialogue which tells you to kill stubbies and I think it might mention they're rare, and 6O gets suspicious of your asking.

really queer Christmas posted:Gotta say, I'm amazed at what a small difference like controlling 9S instead of 2B does to change my perception of characters. Route B: One of the things I thought was really clever was how playing as 9S with 2B following you around makes you realize how little 2B actually talks. Most of the game is 9S sarcastically commenting on things with absolutely no response from 2B. She'll occasionally say things like "What's this?" but rarely even to him. So most of Route B you're playing 9S basically just talking to himself. But even then, 9S is still like "Hanging out with 2B is so much nicer than working alone! "

I think I really felt that point in the desert escort sidequest where 2B flat out goes "What do you want me to do? You're supposed to be the talkative model" in the face of a bunch of dumb questions.

After spending all of Route B trying to do as much battle hacking as possible for variety, for Route C/D I approached every battle as 9S with the intent of punching enemies repeatedly in the face, mainly because I was so loving sick of hacking, but it also ending up being relevant to 9S's slow decent into violent madness!

I bought this game on PC this weekend! I died in the prologue. I am bad at this game. I'm glad I knew going in that dying in the prologue starts you back at the beginning. Definitely need to rework the controls. I'm using an Xbox 360 controller. Dodge just doesn't make much sense to me on the trigger. I keep wanting to do Dark Souls things. Also lock on works kind of weird.

Look Sir Droids posted:I bought this game on PC this weekend! I went into this game with the mentality of other platinum games and felt that getting hit a lot and losing health means i'm really bad at the game. It turns out getting hit a few times isn't actually a huge deal and healing items are plentiful, not to mention there's no grades so you're not punished for using them. It still feels like Bayonetta though. In a good way.

This game is just what Platinum needed I feel. It proves that you can and should apply the Platinum formula of gameplay design to genres other than highly skill intensive character action. But it also makes me even sadder that nothing came out of Scalebound

How do I get to the photograph area that's in a part of the desert it won't let me go to? I assume I'm missing something obvious but a sandstorm pops up to stop me getting out that far.

You can get there through a sort-of-tunnel path that leads around by the right edge of the desert map as you enter from the camp. Speaking of the desert, I accidentally discovered the pile of Emil heads which, if I hadn't finished his quest earlier, would probably have been extra disturbing.

The world feels dead without the constant chatter of the first two routes, which perfectly ties in to A2's separation from other people and 9S's slow descent into nihilistic madness. Speaking of route C: I just finished it and what a god drat great time that was. The tandem battle on the ascent up the Tower is so well done, and the story takes such a dark-but-believable twist with that arm rip. There was a genuine sense of awe that I had when A2 was climbing up the tower of 9S's memories. Vermain fucked around with this message at 17:28 on Mar 20, 2017 |

Question regarding endings C/D/E and working on completion: Im pretty sure I accidentally spoiled myself on the fact it's possible to sacrifice your save like the original NieR, so I don't want to do that until I get the platinum. I got the D ending before the C ending (by picking 9S before A2). Then I went back to do the C ending and it seemed to transition straight into the E ending. I turned the game off for fear of being told to sacrifice the save. Am I safe to do it? If there is a save sacrifice, is it after the E ending? Basically what I'm trying to ask is: Can I get the E ending and then go back and work on the Platinum trophy or should I do that before the E ending?

No you can sell them. If you want to be Optimal only sell as many as you need to because they're worth more later in the game but it's really not a big deal

you'll change your tune on the money front once you get to upgrading everything (especially if you're like me and just buy the materials instead of farming for them), so holding onto those is def a good move

Once again, for everyone playing this on PC: A mod was released yesterday which fixes the fullscreen resolution bug currently affecting the game. I've written up a fairly detailed post about it on Reddit, which details what the bug is, how to install the fix, and how to deal with the most common problems that people are having with regards to getting it running. Click here for the deets. I also put together a comparison gallery, to give you an idea of how the game looks before and after applying the mod (no spoilers, only screens from the first 10 minutes of the game): Linky

The D-unit from a weapon story seems male too but you can't really be sure. So far it's safe to assume S-units are the sole male YoRHa

D is defender and H is healer. I don't recall F if it even is one.
