In other news I am now out of the active duty Army and working with a defense contractor doing the same job for 2x the money and 2x the free time. I am also still pretty mentally retarded though, and signed on for three years in the MD NG. this was probably a horrible mistake.

I got a cool Vietnam vet at CIF when I PCSd, I didn't have something and he just said "don't you worry about that, Sgt. You're good" and just had that look on his face of knowing it's all bullshit. The good ones exist, they are there to guard you and your sanity, if you find them. Idiot tax: on deployment some idiot poo poo shot at a bus. I was nowhere near this, and had been at a completely different base for a week when this happened. Upon return, another idiot said he had to smell the chamber of my weapon to make sure I didn't do it. I attempted to explain not only was it impossible for me to have shot the vehicle because I wasn't there, but even had I shot towards said bus from over a kilometer away, let alone how far I was anyway the bullet would hit the ground. He was a special dipshit and demanded to smell the chamber and count my rounds. These people breed.

They've kind of figured out they can't really do another one right now since you need people to run things.

The only time I ever had to clear CIF was at the end of basic (I was NG/Reserves so I just piled it up in the supply sergeant and gave them a case of beer.) I forgot my helmet cover in my wall locker. The 90000 year old lady just shrugged and marked it off. I had the same helmet cover for 8 years

So, paperwork issue thought someone might help me with. Did USMC reserves, deployed, fought the VA for a couple years and got 70% disability Used that to get Chapter 31 and complete my degree In December, I got a letter saying I had missed an appointment, and my disability was being cut to 10% I have no information on who this appointment was with, or how to contact them I've sent letters to my senators, congressman, media, and disabled vet orgs. Media hasnt replied, senators and congressman said they are looking into it. Disabled vet org got my limited power of atty, but haven't said much since Senator said to contact the evidence intake center, and they said they are looking into it I also filled out an appeal form at my local VA. They said it would be 6-18 months  Anyone else have similar experiences? Who should I be yelling at?

If you are close enough, physically go to the VA disability office handling your case and ask for a printout of your case record. In the last four or fiveish years, they've been uploading all that stuff as pdf. There should be a copy of the letter telling you to meet the board, and a copy of the report from the board saying why they rejected the amount. If either is missing, then use that fact to keep calling bullshit. If they are there, that gives you info to argue against. If they refuse to give it to you, that's a privacy act violation you can hammer them with.

Sometimes contractors are idiots too. I know someone who had some artwork damaged (actually, destroyed) in a .mil move, because the brilliant movers decided to pack that artwork in the same box as the medicine cabinet stuff. Cough syrup exploded over everything and got to season the piece for a month in transit. They lowballed her on what it's worth for them to pay to replace it ($500). The owners estimated it would cost $1,500 or more. Movers pushed back and got an appraisal, and it came back at $8,000 I mean, they're probably never going to see $8k come from it, but it's still funny.

So I'm the idiot for thinking Tricare would be better than the VA. I got a referral to see a specialist and I was told that my appointment would take 10 to 20 minutes. It's a loving hour and ten minute drive to get there.
