Dead serious, Bioware would be better off handing the IP off to Telltale. People seem to play these games for the dialogue and space opera aspect moreso than the gameplay so it seems like a win/win for developer and fans.

I say this having only played a single Telltale title and watching half an LP of another.

Yes, I know that. It wasn't the point of my comment. Also, if one assumes that by default the vehicle is driven by the 4 back wheels, adding 2 more really shouldn't make such a big difference.

It seems to be one of those 'features' that was touted as "wouldn't that be cool" like the warping between planets but ends up just being incredibly annoying.

About 10 hours in, everything involving the menu (weapons, crafting, journal, etc.) is atrocious and the animations/voice acting are bad. The combat gameplay is fun (except the allies AI that's bad, or I dunno, they don't seem to do anything in battle). Story, dialogue, questing and aesthetics I found all pretty bland, there's some cool stuff lost in the middle of a uninspiring world, but not much.

The travel animations between exploring planets should be togglable.

Since it's Bioware I don't expect an Enhanced edition which is sad because there's a lot of stuff that could've been fixed for the better and make the game a solid 6.

I was taking a break from Witcher 3, that still have to finish the DLCs, so I bought Nier and ME:A. Guess I'll finish Nier (that so far is awesome) then go back right away to Witcher 3. During some downtime without games to play I'll probably finish this since I like sci-fi settings :shobon:

Wait wait hold on.

The Angarans have been invaded by the kett (not a spoiler, they both appear in promotional material and their roles are described there). Their part of the galaxy has been under occupation by the kett for a while, possibly decades, with the kett whittling away at them during that time, stealing their resources and taking their people for making new kett for some dumb reason. And then humans arrive and go "Well we are just gonna settle here whilst fighting off the kett. No we won't give those planets in your space back." I would've thought the Angarans might have some objections to that.

Edit: It isn't like the Angarans might need resources to replenish themselves after that long war, right?

Things I want to see from mods later on:

No more warp / landing animations.
Option to tell SAM to stop notifying me about temperature / radiation / mining sites / etc.

And... (completely crazy thought)
All weapons, armor, etc unlocked and available from the beginning of the game at their tier5 variants.

I actually like that Ryder isn't already a fully accomplished space badass and is essentially a dude/dudette who went from guarding a relay at a boring outpost near Earth to being in charge of colonizing a new galaxy by accident

Also the whole notion that everyone is in awed at you being a pathfinder and treat you as the chosen one was seriously overblown by this thread. Your squadmates give you encouragement on your first mission but everyone else either says "Oh that means you have the authority to do X" or says "Oh poo poo you aren't half the person your father was, we're hosed"

The angaran / kett thing is even loving dumber than I had first thought it was, and here's why. (huge loving spoiler, mouse over this at your own risk).

I just got to a prison break mission, and it turns out the kett are made by injecting angarans with a mutation cocktail that transforms them into kett. Yeah. The kett are mutated angarans. There's really only 1 alien race. Can one say LAZY?

I've only done one planet, but the main mission was partly in the open world, but definitely concluded with a long, classical RPG dungeon. And given how this works, I suspect that we have at least one of those dungeons on every planet.

They need to mod in a way to up the inventory space, or change it in a patch. In a game where they throw tons of interesting guns at you, this tiny limit ain't cool. At least put in a stash or something for crying out loud.

Does the game ever comment on the fact that the Milky Way has had a ton of sentient races while Andromeda has just the one?

Also, besides Liara, are they any connections ME1-3?

Is that really all there is for new species? What's even the point of going to a whole other galaxy if there's nothing in it? I know it's just the Helios cluster but that's still really disappointing.

Seems like they could have done Mass Effect: Majellan (cuz of the magellanic clouds, you see) if they wanted to do a New Frontiers in Space thing without bothering with new kinds of aliens.

The Angara were not a super developed interplanetary society at any point. Their history goes like this: About 300ish years ago they achieved space flight and colonized five worlds. Then the Scourge happened and completely wrecked their poo poo. All of their worlds were cut off from each other and plunged into pre space flight conditions for a century or so. When they reestablished contact with one another they'd become culturally distinct in the intervening century plus change and could not peacefully reunify. Civil war happens then eventually the Kett show up and wreck house for 80 years.

The Angara basically hadn't even begun to colonize Heleus before they got the poo poo kicked out of them by the whole universe and now there aren't ton of them. There's more than enough space in Heleus.
