having past financial ties with a russian businessman is neither illegal, nefarious, or unethical in itself. the democrats and fart-huffing media is trying to paint it in this way and this is called gaslighting.

also keep in mind that i'm not saying there hasn't been collusion between russia and the trump political campaign. i'm just saying there's loving zero evidence and this russia hysteria is absurd in that context.

Yes, neither of those countries are communist. But one of them has a former KGB president who murders dissidents and journalists on the regular, invaded and annexed its neighbors, is funding and aiding right wing populist movements throughout Europe, and just successfully hacked the US election. He literally asks "what's the difference between Russia and Italy and Norway" and nobody says "Italy and Norway aren't run by an ex-KGB kleptocrat who's promoting right wing populist movements around the globe". he's making a point that this gaslighting would be a lot less effective if you replaced russia with italy or some poo poo because of historical xenophobia from the cold war. in a sane world merely associating someone with russia would be just as effective as merely associating someone with norway. he's not saying the countries are the same politically or ethically.

# ? Mar 24, 2017 00:44 |
If Trump and team have nothing to hide, then they ought to release a statement that outlines in specific terms the full nature of the contact that their campaign had with Russia, the approximate number of meetings, who from the campaign met with Russian officials, and why they did so. Then, they put the media on notice, saying "this is the truth, this is everything, and as you can see, it's all perfectly normal and we don't have anything to hide. Now, can we move past this stupid nothing of a story?" It's basically Obama's Birther play. Put all your cards out, dare anyone to prove you wrong, and paint anyone who spreads the story as a conspiracy theorist.

I don't think you know what the word gaslighting means. Yes, tying Trump to Italy or Norway would be a lot less effective than tying him to Russia because Italy and Norway did not successfully hack our election system 5 months ago. It may not be the Cold War anymore, and we may not be enemies, but I don't think that Russia is really looking for ways to cooperate with the U.S., and that they fundamentally view anything beneficial to the U.S. in terms of foreign influence as being necessarily harmful to their own foreign influence. So, when people are concerned about Russia, it's not because of some irrational fear that Ivan is gonna nuke us, it's because there's a rational belief that the U.S. and Russia are geopolitical rivals and that Russia is actively working against our own best interests.

I disagree with bernies tweet, but forgive it because unlike your abuela, he has been front and center on pushing the dems to oppose the ACA appeal. What's your endgame for caring about Russia? Bad dems are still going to confirm Trumps SCOTUS appointments, ACA still going away, and Hillary will still never be president.
