Part of it is that I have a lot thoughts on Relena and even though Wing wasn't my first Gundam (that was 0080 and 0083) it was my first dip into fandom and as a teenage girl who really, really liked Relena and giant robots fighting each other it definitely made an impression. But really, I still have a lot of thoughts about Relena and Wing and why it was great but also why it desperately needed better editing.

I've watched Wing in its entirety like five times since it originally aired on CN and got me into Gundam in the first place. I couldn't tell you what happens in the back third of the series though. Time to make that six times I think.

Wing overall had a pretty good cast of female characters. Dorothy has the greatest set of eyebrows ever and the relationship between her and Relena is one of the best things in the series. Also Lady Une shoots Septim while he falls out of the plane.

The animation quality also goes up for the last 10 episodes or so. I still think Rhythm Emotion is one of the best animated Gundam OPs - it's so clean, especially for the last two episodes of the series. Wing in general had a pretty good cast, I think. What I always get disappointed with is that Noin, who is talked up as a good soldier, doesn't ever really show it. Except for the episode where she single handedly busts Sally out of jail and then recovers Wing Gundam

But you need Wufei for that scene where his whole colony trolls him by blowing themselves up and then Treize does pretty much the same thing with his death.

I always thought it was weird the mobile doll concept never came up in any other gundam series. Since Wing was the first one I watched, I figured at the time it was a staple of the franchise, but nope it's only ever in Wing. I guess it would be hard to do in the UC what with minovsky particles, but that just means you can use newtypes for it!

They're never given as much focus because honestly an army of drones tends to weaken some of the conflict ideas. It works (for as much as anything does) in wing because it's about the dehumanization of warfare but a lot of the focus of any Gundam series is on the conflict between two sides.
