Two of the three members are from Mgła and they make some great music, a lot more on the angular Deathspell Omega side of things than straightforward black metal. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7iY5RxusESg

Anyone seen Amorphis and Swallow the Sun this tour? I'm wondering why the show starts at 5:30 and ends at 10:15. Seems long.

I'm going to see them in 2 weeks and there is 4 bands ( never heard of the 2 - Trailight + Gross Misconduct ). So if that holds, then starting an hour after doors + ~1 hour per band that's 5 hours.

As far as I can tell, in Minneapolis it's only one other band so I'm confused.

Times have been really weird for shows in SF during the last year with stuff starting earlier/later than what's printed on the ticket or on the venue's website. It's a total pain in the rear end to figure out when bands really hit the stage for some reason.

I totally agree. I had never heard of these guys before, but according to the comments on this video both the guitarist and drummer are also in the band Dodecahedron. If that's really the case then it seems these guys have been super busy cranking out some good poo poo. The new Dodecahedron album Kwintessens is pretty solid too imo.

I hate a solid 90-95% of 8-string prog metal as boring, derivative garbage before I even get into hating most of the rest of it on its own merits, but I'm enjoying the poo poo out of this VOLA album for whatever reason. Heavy Devin Townsend influence, avoid if you don't like that stuff. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CkPyCFPQa4E

Has anyone heard of Sumerlands, I'm getting a kinda Dio/Sabbath vibe from them but I have no idea where I found them

Sumerlands owns, they're doing some truly excellent classic heavy metal. I think I picked them up from the 2016 metal list of lists https://www.reddit.com/r/Metal/comments/5l3hve/list_of_lists_vektor_made_the_best_record_of_2016/ Check out The Archaic Revival (Australia) and Wreck Plus (France) for other good stuff along those lines, both of which were posted itt last year.

warbringer rules because they were marked as "alternative rock" on the jukebox at the bar i went to for a long time, so it wasn't filtered out. i eventually got everything except for top 40/todays hits/whatever banned.
