So it looks like Julio Urias will not make the opening day roster which is good I guess because it means he may be pitching in the fantasy playoffs?

Makes me feel better about not targeting him even in the late rounds this year.

It reminds me a Goon fantasy hockey league a long time ago where one dude started overhauling his roster and making outlandish deals for Leafs players. Like, he essentially was trying to troll the league by offering all his good players for crappy Leafs players.

Dude was kicked out of the league quickly.

So i need closers, i only drafted one.

Only a few left in this Espn roto league.

Greg Holland,Cam Bedrosian,Brandon Kintzler, Fernando Rodney.

Which 2 should i grab?

I was working and had to draft on my phone using a Queue system. I missed out on every closer, except the Rays Colome and Andrew Miller. I had Miller in my Queue because i thought Cody Allen was hurt.
Turns out it wasn't that Cody Allen.

I'm not dropping Miller so i also need to drop 1 or 2 of these 4.

Garret Richards, Robbie Ray, Jared Eickhoff, Brandon Maurer. It's a head to head weekly so i am not punting saves but i have no problem starting the year with only 2 or 3 closers.

It's a problem you think we need to explain ourselves.
Maurer might lose his job, and looks like his only good stretch ever was pre-ASB 2015.

Bad ratios, pedestrian K/9, bad team (not that bad teams can't produce great closers)

I dropped him in a few leagues and I'm not worried about replacing him.

Yes this is a good reply, i'm pretty much going to replace Maurer with one of the 4. I would like to drop one more starting pitcher if i can get a guy at least starting the year as a closer.

Bedrosian is really good and should start as closer but Street should be closer when he gets healthy which might be pretty soon. I would add him though.

Some weird things about this draft. It's a ten person head to head roto.
I drafted Harper at number 8 overall, Stanton in the 5th round and Felix Hernandez in the 18th.

That is only a small drop for Bryce but a huge drop in ADP for the other 2.

I think Bedrosian is the call, and there seems to be a consensus that he may be able to run away with the job while Street is out.

Of course, you're banking on Scioscia not being old-school about his pitcher assignments/standing up to Street so who knows.

Felix is waaaaaay down in ADP this year, although 18th rd is still pretty huge. He went for $1, 8th, and 12th rd in the leagues I'm in.

I think Stanton's ADP is around 38 so that's not actually that far of a drop, in a 10-teamer that's late 4th. Huge steal on Felix though

More importantly though, what the hell is head to head roto

I think if you want Stanton or Felix, or both, this is the year to get them. AJ Pollock too.

Sort of like last year with Robinson Cano. I don't think he'll ever make it to round 2 value again, but when I saw he was going around 70th, I had to take him.

Of course, Stanton could get hurt again, but 45 HR potential in round 5 is attractive.

YKNOW THERES ONLY ONE DIRECTION I KNOW AND THATS DRIVIN STRAIGHT TO THE NET
Did this draft in a 10-team H2H league last night (5x5 + OPS and Holds):

C - Russell Martin
1B - Edwin Encarnacion
2B - Jonathan Schoop
3B - Todd Frazier
SS - Dansby Swanson
CI - Brandon Belt
MI - Francisco Lindor
OF - Nelson Cruz
OF - Christian Yelich
OF - Mark Trumbo
UT - Nolan Arenado
UT - Stephen Piscotty
BN - Adam Duvall

SP - Clayton Kershaw
SP - Jacob deGrom
SP - Carlos Carrasco
SP - Jose Quintana
RP - Wade Davis
RP - Seung Hwan Oh
RP - Kelvin Herrera
P - Felix Hernandez
P - Tony Watson
P - Joe Ross
BN - Sonny Gray
BN - Noah Syndergaard

Was able to keep Lindor, Arenado, and Thor with late picks, and I am really happy with this team.

Maybe I do.

But also you look at a Machado, in the bigs at 19 and a full season at 20, Rougned Odor up at 20, Bryce Harper full-time at 19. If Guerrero is going to be one of those guys I won't have to wait too long, and if he's not I can probably figure that out well before 4 years have gone by

Looking to add some steals before the season starts. Some guys i have looked at on waivers;

Ceaser Hernandez, Raul Mondesi, Delino Deshields,Manuel Margot.

Any sleepers likely to be on waivers that anyone can add or comment on?

Fast Luck
Feb 2, 1988

Mallex Smith: He sucks but has the most steal potential this side of Billy Hamilton, still pretty young
Hernan Perez: Super util guy so position eligibility everywhere, lots of steals last season (34), but isn't gonna unseat Villar at 2B

DeShields really stunk last season but I see he might get an everyday spot this year anyway so maybe him. Mondesi probably the better bet since he's been on the top prospect radar for several years.

Schweinhund posted:

So I am inheriting an ESPN keeper league team. I havent played fantasy baseball is close to a decade, so this should be interesting. The rules allow for 2 position player and 2 pitcher keepers. Here is the team.

C Yasmani Grandal, LAD C
1B Eric Hosmer, KC 1B
2B DJ LeMahieu, Col 2B
3B Nolan Arenado, Col 3B
SS Jonathan Villar, Mil SS, 3B
OF Christian Yelich, Mia OF
OF Jackie Bradley Jr., Bos OF
OF Hernan Perez, Mil 3B, OF
OF Yasiel Puig, LAD OF
DH Pedro Alvarez, Bal DH
UTIL Manny Machado, Bal SS, 3B

P Clayton Kershaw, LAD SP
P Carlos Martinez, StL SP
SP Marco Estrada, Tor SP
SP Rich Hill, LAD SP
SP Jake Odorizzi, TB SP
SP Ervin Santana, Min SP
SP Alex Reyes, StL SP
RP Seung Hwan Oh, StL RP
RP Dylan Bundy, Bal SP, RP
Bench Madison Bumgarner, SF SP
Bench J.A. Happ, Tor SP
Bench Jeremy Hellickson, Phi SP
Bench Masahiro Tanaka, NYY SP
Bench Chris Tillman, Bal SP

I can't keep Machado, Arenado, Kershaw or C. Martinez since they were kept last year by the guy who ran this team. Should I just roll with zero keepers and start fresh? Maybe keep Bumgarner and Villar?

If they're reserved for keeper selections, are you even allowed to draft in those rounds? In other words, are you giving up nothing by keeping 4 guys or are you giving up the earliest picks in the draft?

Just talked to the commish and I guess they have it setup so that if you don't keep anyone you get picks at the end of the draft. So its a waste not to keep 4.

Reports are that Familia's suspension will be shorter than Chapman's because he's "cooperating," and Reed would be the fill-in.
