The whole reign of the Superman thing was basically some guy who never claimed to be Superman and was good, a clone who never claimed to be the real thing, Cyborg Superman who was a bad guy in disguise, and something really stupid and comic booky that's really stupid but wasn't Superman and never really claimed he was. The CW show was like 40% absolutely amazing, and 60% (+ 100% in Earth 2) absolute gutter trash. King Shark, Gorilla Grodd, Reverse Flash and more, they really put out some great little comic stories/characters (although Tom Cavanagh's portrayal of his normal character was wonderful). I hope they really dig deep into the Flash whenever his movie comes out (even though it's not even out of the gates ). Drifter fucked around with this message at 06:50 on Mar 30, 2017 |

Snyder's Superman may be gritty, but he's not particularly angry or badass. The only real anger we've seen from him was when somebody was touching his mom.

It's the decade where the angry/badass/gritty Superman thrived, and the 2000s brought him back to a more balanced and optimistic character. You're using the fact that Snyder pulled images/ideas from some of the most famous and influential comics of all time to make a roundabout point about his movies being "grimdark". Although you cleverly disguised "grimdarkness" as "xtreme dourness" so good job there. But yeah you lumping these movies in with "90s comics" as if they were one step away from being Image comics is a sneaky rhetorical trick IMO, like the whole "Snyder wants to direct Ayn Rand! That's why we have an Objectivist Superman!" fiasco. Snyder's Superman is neither angry* not badass** nor gritty*** * maybe a little mopey at worst, but emo is an early 2000s thing ** see the point on the last page or so about how he fights like a farmboy turned newspaper writer *** okay he might have gotten a little dirty when he was drowning in skulls, but that was a dream

Snyder should direct the video for the pop-song tie in for Justice League, and it should feature lots of slow motion shots of Superman with his hair flowing in the wind. Also, they should start bringing back pop-song tie ins for superhero movies.
