Served in a souvenir cleat for $37.95

So, a German lower league soccer team was literally run by the internet, and it has done brilliantly. Baseball is so much better suited to this sort of thing and it needs to happen, immediately.

Every once in awhile I'm reminded of the time way back when that Bartolo threw 30 some-odd lovely innings for Boston and looked as cooked as any 300 lb former Cy Young pitcher I've ever seen. That was nine motherfucking years ago. God bless that fat, beautiful baseballer

http://www.denverpost.com/2017/03/29/rockies-coors-field-long-term-deal/ The Rockies extended their lease with the state's municipal stadium district for Coors Field until 2047. They are going to get leasing rights to the parking lot on the west side of 20th street to build on. I'll be SIXTY THREE YEARS OLD at that point Atlanta and Texas are already replacing or have already replaced their stadiums that are the same age as Coors.

That cursed hellhole should be burned to the ground and the earth below it salted and left barren for a dozen generations. Baseball was not meant to be played there and the gods of the game punish both the Rockies (via perennial mediocrity) and visiting teams (via a never ending stream of freak injuries on the field) for their hubris. (I hear it's a lovely place to see a game though)

It was because his team at the time (I don't remember which because I don't remember the year and I'm lazy) was so bad that pretty much the whole town was writing into the newspaper about how bad they were, so Veeck took 'em to task and essentially said "You think you can do better?" Part of the reason it worked is because they had attendance in the low hundreds because they were doing so badly at the time. Pretty sure they ended up losing, but it didn't actually make the game appreciably longer.

How about that Reds rotation though. Opening Day starter Scott Feldman. Two prospects with zero MLB innings pitched. 40-year-old Bronson Arroyo coming back from TJS.

He's had a problem with walking batters throughout his minor league career, so it's presumably something he's been working on for years without success, and I'm sceptical that he can suddenly find the key in one offseason, especially as he'll now be facing batters with major-league plate discipline.
