I don't think it's meant to compete with the fidget cube, a device where the main selling point is being small and discrete. This stick is closer in spirit to a yo-yo.

Have we had the dumb tablet yet? I've seen it around quite a bit. https://www.kickstarter.com/project...B_EN_KS-tablets It's a cheap tablet that mirrors whats on your phone. It's the same as buying a cheap tablet and putting a mirroring app on it, except worse because you can't use the tablet independently.

You can still buy watches that do those things.

I was talking about the commercial failure meta watch brand. Now that I think about it, it was pressing buttons and not swiping. The simple screen and the lack of apps that required processing power gave it good battery life. I could buy one of dozens of Chinese smartwatches with a poorer battery life, identically ugly UIs, and the need to swipe around on screens that are a bit too small for me to use effectively. But they don't meet my needs.

Pebble going out of business was a good thing for me because it resulted in this smart watch comparison spreadsheet. I bought myself a Vivoactive for Christmas because it does the things you listed while being relatively small, cheap, and battery‐sipping. fakeedit: That spreadsheet has really gotten out of hand . It had way fewer columns in in December.

No touchscreen, just side buttons for controls, will show weather and notifications when connected by Bluetooth to your phone. Has, of course, extensive options for recording heart rate and speed/distance/steps while exercising. There's also a small little app store, mostly very simple things like extra watch faces and that. They also make fancier models with touchscreens, and stuff like that, but the Forerunner 235 is what you'd want it seems.

A lot of those other FMV heavy games have been remade in a similar way, they work quite well. Some of them even have singificantly higher quality video because they can finally get the video off of the source film at better than postage stamp resolution.
