I bought a shitload of cheap items tonight, and out of like 30 orders, two of them just would not accept my payment and every time I tried they popped up the "YOU MUST SEND US YOUR PASSPORT TO VERIFY PAYMENT" garbage. Same card worked fine for every other seller. So I guess the verification stuff is decided by the seller, not by AliPay? Joke's on them, though. They just lost $1.77!

Light Gun Man posted:Has anyone here actually ordered and used the "fill up 100 water balloons" thing here? https://www.aliexpress.com/item/-/32733301837.html?trace=msiteDetail2pcDetail Me, got a bunch late last year and the ones I got worked just as well as the official $10 ones. My kid loves water balloons, and I'm lazy. Same issues as the $10 ones (some slide off during filling, easier to fill in a tub of water than on the ground, etc). You know, related to design, not specific make. I just make sure he takes a bath where we're done in case they're made of lead and radiation or w/e. None of the sets we used didn't even have that cheap plastic smell, though. I'm guessing because the cheap plastic wouldn't work. I got more on the way. Neurolimal posted:Moving on from KD chat: one of my 1.60 nail polishes came in the mail, and...you really get what you pay for. Yeah, this is why I always make sure I find a size. I've seen tiny 5ml bottles selling for $12 each, usually with whatever the latest "thing" in nail polish inside, and I see all the # of orders and whisper "they don't know.." to myself. Edit: beaten but I'm leaving it King Vidiot posted:How do those "work"? Do they just fill the water balloons to capacity until they get heavy and fall off like ripe fruit, held closed by those little rubber bands? Pretty neat idea if it actually works, but I guess you have to buy a ton of tiny rubber bands. They come with the rubber bands. The tube system is one-use, since the whole thing is designed to make it not take a half an hour to fill 40 balloons. You're supposed to hold the hose above the bundle, so the balloons slide off when they get so full. This doesn't even work with the $10 ones you buy in the US, because they fill at different rates, and like to not slide off and instead get too full & pop, so I've learned to A. fill them whike they're sitting in a bucket of water or our little plastic kiddie pool and B. keep an eye on them and gently shove them off of the straws/tubes as they get full. Then they just float around safely until you're ready to pack them all in a basket and go throw em around. Neurolimal posted:There's a very tight black band wrapled around the stray and the balloon stem the straw is inside, after you fill them up you pull the straw out and the bands tighten now that there isn't a plastic tube in the way. Yes. Works surprisingly well, too. Plus you can hold one and point the rubber-banded part at people and squirt them. Wamdoodle posted:Hey, anyone got any art supply finds that are decent? Paints, pens pencils, papers, marble slabs etc. Idk how much this qualifies, but if they like ink that's in bottles and not cartridges, glass dip pens are good for testing said ink http://s.aliexpress.com/ZBrIBBnI You can also buy holographic glitter, which seems like something most artistic people would use eventually, from my biased standpoint http://s.aliexpress.com/73yEJnIj

I just bought a 13 buck guitar tuner (because gently caress paying 100 dollar + for a simple tuner), I'm really hoping it works. Oh, and the person looking for resin figures, there's this seller who has a ton: https://www.aliexpress.com/store/2488011?spm=2114.01010208.3.12.8eJ3a6 Oh, and half of the figures are NSFW boob models I guess. The rest are knock-offs of various scale figure companies.

Poker chips are surprisingly expensive on there. I was expecting crazily low prices since they'd be so simple for factories to spit out by the dozen thousand, but even the low end abs-around-metal were barely below retail

just placed an order for a $35 Altera Cyclone IV clone. The normal ones go for like, at least a hundred bucks, so i have no idea what I'm going to get. But i'm sure it'll be great practice! Also my $4 fiddle cube came here and my immediate reaction to touching it was 'yup this was $4'. I wouldn't recommend getting one unless it's for someone who would die without it.

What was the price on that sonic set? I usually ignore toys and model kits because they require multiple molds (or they cheap out and reduce the number of pieces, resulting in those crappy knockoff figures with solid legs and zombie-chase arms) which means the savings aren't as great.

Paints, pens pencils, papers, marble slabs etc. In non-traditional art I have a fw things saved but havn't ordered yet.... I like the flat canvas so it's probably easir to hit local stores but this one shop has 4x4 (10x10 cm) flats for cheaper than Michaels --- Michaels has 2x2 (6pk), 3x3 (4pk), and 4x4 (2pk) for $5.00 each (and in black as well as white!) https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Blank-Art-White-Canvas-Panels-Oil-Acrylic-Painting/32793714822.html?spm=2114.13010308.0.0.AiYONs I bought one of these non stick sheets years ago for $10 with a 50% off coupon in Joanne's, so this is on my list for must haves when I have have the money. It's in th kitchn section (and we actually have on in our oven right now that my brother got for free at a trade show). https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Hot...0308.0.0.AiYONs In the nail supplies section I have already bought these nice lining brushes https://www.aliexpress.com/item/3-P...0608.0.0.bT6jwd And in "add random interest to whatever bullshit you're working on" I have these two items saved: roe beads https://www.aliexpress.com/item/Fas...0308.0.0.AiYONs loose velvet https://www.aliexpress.com/item/one...0308.0.0.AiYONs I have loose flocking I paid waaaay too much for (gently caress you Tim Holtz!!) in a craft store as well, thought the velvet would be nice. As for standards, all the drawing pens seem to be the same as the real store items, the markers look dope but I don't have a use for them, and I'm pretty sure water brushes are water brushes no matter what, so find the cheapest and buy a ton (I keep losing the lids for mine).
