Okay, so once my game arrives and I get to those points and see them for myself on my TV instead of on my computer screen, am I allowed to feel disappointment then? I mean I'll even acknowledge that probably 99%+ of the lines are localized just fine but I've seen enough poor examples already that "concern and disappointment" don't really seem that unreasonable to me.
I just want people to play the game before they write their five paragraph long thesis on the nuance of failed localization to have played the game

Like totally be disappointed by it but some folks are weirdly smug and bitter about

It's perfectly fine to be disappointed but I would recommend you look through P3 and P4 again some time if you think it didn't do the exact same thing.

I know you're on a weirdly aggressive kick these days but I'm not looking at those games with any kind of rose colored glasses like you're assuming and that's why I personally didn't mention them at all. I expected more from Atlus localization wise on a game that was both hugely anticipated and hugely delayed, and while I'm sure I will still love the game there will still be small pangs of disappointment there that they dropped the ball just a bit.

Friends 'ave fun together.
Got the game yesterday, reached what I'm pretty sure is the final safe room of the first dungeon with a little over 7 hours on the clock. Game is really good.

Translation wise I've noticed a couple of weird things, but a lot of it seems kinda overblown, like people taking Velvet Room lines out of context. Or complaining about "Mr. Kamoshida's too nice for not abandoning a punk like that.", for some reason.

Also I got into a fight where the MC was immediately oneshotted by a critical Cleave, so it's good to see the quintessential SMT experience hasn't been lost.

Don't play with subs, you big loving baby. Just play the game dubbed.

People who refuse to use dubs and insist on only listening to things in the original Japanese are weirdos and should be ostracized.

You can turn subtitles for every thing on or off basically yeah. Apparently some of the anime cutscene stuff is kinda wonky from what I've been hearing from a dude I know who's been playing but I won't know for myself until I'm looking at the English version.

I'm not sure why you expect more from an Atlus translation if you're not looking at them with nostalgic beer goggles then.

This is how Atlus translations are. They do have some well-localized and enjoyable lines but they have their share of awkwardness. Most translations do unless they go full-on in rewriting everything and sometimes even that is unavoidable when it gets into weird intentional ambiguous dialogue or metaphysical bullshit. P5 absolutely has areas where it could have been translated better from what I've seen but I can't think of an Atlus translation I don't feel that way about so I'm not sure why it's coming up here.

And if I'm being aggressive it is because I'm genuinely tired of cynical ironyposting or people repeating things they saw online being mistaken as a serious actual criticism which has happened in this thread and others. If you want to discuss problems then fine, but discuss them in the context of the game and not in people rushing to post screenshots that prove Atlus has FAILED unlike their other games which are okay because ???

So, let's be clear here. You've moved the goalpost to now "this entire script wasn't edited and every line of dialogue is like this" right? I just want to clear that you're now not arguing "they could have translated some things better" but that the entire script has no editing or localization and no effort was put into writing dialogue. You're doubling down on this?
