Here is what is projected for 2018 comp picks with the current FA signings for this year: https://overthecap.com/draft/ Noted powerhouse Oakland Raiders lost a lot of talent and are projected to receive four comp picks. Amy Pole Her posted:Man In their defense a lot of average dudes got 3rd. Sean Smith? OKUNG? Lol Sean Smith was good before he got to Oakland.

He was a Miami draft pick. I remember him well. He was pretty good but his final year in KC was lovely. I wanted Miami to possibly resign him

Sean Smith was pretty good his final year in KC. He always has had problems with speedy receivers though. He also turned it around last year in Oakland and had a good end to the season after getting benched.

Patriots apparently still want to trade for Richard Sherman. Oh my god I would literally jump for joy.

I hope they trade for him and then just make him watch footage of the pick over and over.

I'm trying to imagine how this ends up working out. Garoppolo gets traded for the Browns 2nd + a late pick Butler gets traded with that late pick to the Saints for #32. Patriots trade... I don't even know, that 2nd(?) for Sherman. I have no idea what the value of a 29 year old elite cornerback coming off a modestly down year is worth. Revis fell off a cliff last year at age 30, and Sherman's never been Revis. Some last years longer, but tend to have to change their game up, not sure how Sherman adapts, plus McCourty is no Earl Thomas.

I hope the Pats trade for Sherman, and then in his first game, he opens his big fat mouth with a Sherman tirade and Bellichek just benches him for the rest of the season.

To my eye test he was pretty good, although it's hard to grade a corner just watching games and it's not like I went back and watched his All 22 or anything. Also for whatever reason outside of a few times he had trouble with quick guys like Pron noted everyone spent the year wanting to throw at the other side of the field where Peters came up with 8 picks. It wasn't to the point of the old Raiders where no one would throw at Nnamdi all year but it was pretty striking, which just naturally lead you to think Smith was doing something right.

So did Lynch just really loving hate Seattle or something? I'm surprised he's actually close to coming back and I feel like I missed something in why he retired when the team was clearly still a perennial contender

I really hope Lynch isn't a Raider when Marcus Peters hits FA, they are best friends and both from Oakland and I can see where this is heading.............

Is he definitely going to actually play, or is this more like just he gets to retire as a raider because he was a raiders fan as a kid or whatever

If he comes out of retirement, yes, seattle owns his contract. But if there's goodwill, they might be happy to let him go or whatever.

Marshawn is a native son heavily involved in the community, a life long Raider fan and easily the most beloved non-Raider alive. If he has a hand in getting to or even better yet winning a SB for the Raiders before they leave Oakland it would be legend. Plus, Oakland's o-line is terrific. e: Jiminy Christmas! If he comes out of retirement, his 2017 cap hit for Seattle will immediately become real -- $9M in 2017 (and $10M in 2018). OTC currently has them with $9.7M in cap space, which would leave them unable to make moves or sign their draft picks, so they'd be forced to cut him or trade him. e: Or make room, I guess. But that's a bad idea to make bad cap decisions to keep a guy who doesn't want to play for you

I wouldn't call Butler "below average" by any stretch, but Sherman is absolutely not a "culture fit" for New England because of, y'know, the whole irrepressible-personality thing SCENE: New England cornerback Richard Sherman gets beat on a long-bomb TD pass in the fourth quarter thanks to some horrific, blatant OPI which the officials didn't catch. The Patriots lose by 4 points. At the post-game press conference, someone asks Sherman what he thought of that call. Can you imagine him saying "we're on to Buffalo next week, no further questions"?
