So the worst, most obviously janky and offputting animation and character model issues that stood out immediately to everyone who played the game, formed the basis of most of the 'game bad' memes, and probably drove the metacritic scores down a fair few points by themselves... were simple to fix and remodeled within 2 weeks of the game coming out? Jesus christ why didn't they fix them before release then?

It's so insane. Some of the most major complaints were fixed in two weeks. Like you said I think the meta critic score would be a whole point higher if it released like this

1. They were likely working on some of this before the game official launch.

2. They had to hit their release date of March.

3. There were more important show stopper bugs that existed that needed to be fixed.

Probably some combination of these 3 things.

For those enjoying this, do the planet based areas ever change to your actions?

One of the things I loved about Inquisition was how your actions even during side quests changed the world around you. Suddenly you started seeing Inquisition patrols wandering the roads, the people moved back to their homes, watchtowers went up, the environmental dialogue changed about how things were getting better. It made doing the side quests feel worth it, even if it was a deluge of them, and it honestly made the world building aspects of the game make up for the rather weak main plot to me.

I know the Nexus changes, but do you see further changes on planets after the colony goes down and you start doing sidequests for them? More outlying bases showing up? People moving around the colony to new areas? People talking about how things are improving? Even these small changes would probably be enough to push me over the edge and buy this game, as that's the sort of stuff I live for.

Yes, but not quite to the extent that DA:I did it. I'd say, maybe 75% as much? You establish outposts and raise planet viability, and there are some very nice moments. Like when you clear up a planet's atmosphere and goes from a dusty haze to clear blue. But yeah, it doesn't happen quite as often as it did in Inquisition.

Me being a dummy I just realized something about Mass Effect 2. All the colonies being attacked are in the Terminus systems, and yet the colonists are pissed off that the Alliance has hung them out to dry. You're in the loving terminus systems, if the Alliance showed up, it would be a goddamn war. They bang you over the head about how tenuous the relations between Council Space and the Terminus Systems are, it's no wonder the Alliance is reluctant to back up privately funded colonies in hostile territory.

The game addresses this in a few places, but colonists dying on the ground don't care about politics.

It happens plenty in real life, jus think:

The Systems Alliance is pretty much Space NATO, but stuff like the Andromeda Initiative already has precedent in the franchise with the number of private human ventures that aren't associated with the government.

I'm getting rare, ultra rare guns...what should I be doing with them if I'm not going to use them? I'm under the impression I don't need to worry about anything with my squadmates outside of skills at level up, so should I be scrapping for crafting materials or selling?

I started hating them when two wouldn't accept alternate but logically correct solutions. On a replay, their impact to pacing is more noticeable. Puzzles should be fun, they should give a welcome break to tense action, and they should interact with the environment more (like in Uncharted). These sudoku puzzles aren't great.

That'd be great. I mean, poo poo, I still had ~30 unfinished tasks and was still working on the last few Friends & Allies and Heleus quests when I hit maximum viability on every planet and for Andromeda itself, as well as being disgustingly overleveled. Even cutting a little of that chafe would be a huge improvement.

Selling doesn't get you much, and you can abuse an oversight for unlimited credits with a certain merchant on Kadara. May as well break all that stuff down to build decent gear.

It's not difficult. It is loving tedious, however. Especially since it uses weird glyphs instead of numbers. Solving a glyph puzzle is just 'ok, that looks right.. oh wait, two of the glyphs look similar to each other, no, it's not'. time for a do-over.

Are you sure they were correct alternate solutions? Because I thought this happened to me but on review I wasn't taking into account the "one glyph per shape" rule.

I like the puzzles, I got a decryption key in a loot box and it made me sad.
