My home course opens tomorrow and I'm so glad it's golf season again. I've been busy lately moving into a new apartment but that's almost all set now so I'm ready to commence the work/golf/sleep cycle

Westwood@43 is by far still the "first" on the "list" but I continue to think he'll pull a Darren Clarke and weeze into a British Open in the next 5 years. I fully expect Sergio to be a Jimenez style'd dirty old man yelling at and threatening leader boards well into his 40's. Other "Dirty Old Man" status players that will be threats throughout their 40's (if not already there like Phil@46 and Cabrera@47 and Z. Johnson/Stenson@41) also remember Vijay did this poo poo too: 1. 2. Kuchar 38 3. Bubba 38 4. Duf 40 5. Casey 39 6. Snedeker 36 7. Walker 38 8. Scott 36 9. Oostie 34 10. ?? I don't see guys like DJ/McIlroy playing into their 40's for some reason. Speith yes though, but he's a pup so lots of time to flame out and be nothing by his late 30's. Short hitters like Donald probably out for sure....although Z. Johnson is still too crafty to keep off the list. No idea about J-Day. I could buy Bubba being like the next Ernie Els, he's either gonna come out of nowhere to make some awesome top 10 major finishes, or miss a ton of cuts and it'll be a total coin flip each time.

Bubba embraces inconsistency. Hell, he thrives on it. Because goddamn when he is on, he's really something to watch.

Bubba's weezin' at least one more Masters IMO and will threaten other majors and randomly win at Carnoustie by 6 or something as a 48y/o. He could play till 60.

I love watching Bubba for the bizarro creativity of his shots. That, "Oh, there's no goddamn way he's gonna...gently caress!" factor, y'know?

Yeah the fun of Bubba is him being completely self-taught so he's far more willing to try really goofy poo poo and experiment with shots

Since I'm now that guy, I hate how Bubba loves to blame anything but himself when he hits a bad shot. Oh, the caddy pulled a bad club, there was a micron of water on the face, where did that .2mph puff of wind come from, who decided that the greens should be Bent instead of Bermuda. SHUT UP.

Nah that's totally fair. Bubba has an attitude and from what I know he's one of the least liked guys in the locker room

Played for the first time since November today with my 9 year old. Felt good to get the initial soreness out of the way. First 2 balls I hit (this course doesn't have a range btw) hooked up and over a screen that protects a road. I think I came close to hitting a car, heard a horn beep. I love my lovely muni that's bordered on 3 sides by busy roads though.

daslog posted:New year, hit balls for the first time in a while, and I have a nice looking slice. My driver was really unpredictable today but everything else was in pretty good shape considering the time of year. There were a LOT of people out who were obviously not regular golfers but since I was just by myself and knocking the rust off it wasn't too bad. It's going to cool off a bit later this week and then the courses should be less crowded, today was almost 80. My push cart is awesome but dealing with wet fairways and being out of shape after a winter of laziness made me pack it in after 20 holes.

A friend told me that all the fairways and rough at Augusta are actually rye grass and that's why it's always closed in the summer. c/d?

For liability reasons. On plus side, wedges were very good. I kept fighting the low irons though. It was high slice or duck hook only. Not in any shape to play golf yet. I played almost none last year so ughhhh
