Subcomandante Marcos bee is not just a socialist. He is a gay bee in San Francisco, a black bee in South Africa, an Asian bee in Europe, a Chicano bee in San Ysidro, an anarchist bee in Spain, a Palestinian bee in Israel, a Mayan Indian bee in the streets of San Cristobal, a Jew bee in Germany, a Gypsy bee in Poland, a Kurdish bee in Turkey, a Mohawk bee in Quebec, a pacifist bee in Bosnia, a single female bee on the Metro at 10pm, a peasant bee without a hive, a gang member bee in the slums, a worker bee without a flower, an unhappy student bee and, of course, a Zapatista bee in the mountains.

But now we know that you don't need to; just denying it over and over again until people stop asking works too. edit: only if you can do it completely shamelessly though.

You could probably make a pretty good answer about nihilism and millenials due to the inherent crushing nature of capitalism + the apparent death of the American dream + 9/11 or something.

Given that America has a cult of authenticity, all you need to do is say "cum is an inside job so what" and pull your dick/tits out to get wild applause in this post-Trump landscape I'm going to a DSA happy hour tomorrow so that should be cool and good!

Guys guys guys!!!!! I just came up with a golden idea vis-a-vis campaigning for a shorter work week: we use Trump as an example! In short, if Trump can do his job with his lack of work ethic/constant three day weekends/time off, why can't we? I'm going to push this at future DSA meetings. Melanchon winning in France with his 32 hour work week promise would be a massive boon as well.

Here's a quick and dirty image to go along with that idea:

Goons are hard at work rewriting the Democratic State Charter in Massachussets as we speak. They are hard at work in Texas running candidates. They are phonebanking and talking philosophy and opening up DSA chapters (I think we have two states where their first DSA chapters were goon founded now) And some of us are working out how get goons into the national Dem committee. We might actually accomplish something at this rate

basically I've lived in Texas all my life and its been in a place where the Democratic party has been nonexistent, or otherwise incompetent. This is something I can care about a lot more than "the Democrats" anyway, and the monthly meeting place is 2 blocks from where I live

anyone thinking about going to the national thing in august or have been to one in the past? just curious if its worth going to since its driveable for me

Haven't been, but if it's drivable you might as well go. Considering the membership boom and some of what's been buzzing around I'd have to imagine what's decided at national is going to be a particularly Big Deal for the DSA going forward.

Most locals allow non-paying members to attend meetings and in some cases, such as mine, even vote on non-critical matters (e.g. basically anything not organizational in our case). Don't let a lack of funds discourage you from getting involved.
