Don't do it, just let it go to the aliexpress arbiters. Contend, no, there was no working tracking number, the item didn't arrive, I have no proof it was sent, end of story.

Yep, if you don't come to an agreement, it times out and goes to an arbiter.

I'm about to place a decent sized order of crap. Last time I ordered, probably a year ago. I got random empty bubble pack envelopes in the mail for months after. Probably five or so in total. What was that all about.

Seriously, how does the chinese postal system work? If I wanted to buy these worms it would be 46 cents CDN including postage. If I was really impressed with them and wanted to mail one to my aunt, it would cost me 85 cents CDN to send her a letter with a worm in it. To be fair she'd get that worm within a week, rather than the 2 months I'd have to wait to get them from China, but still.

How?

All of my orders from the beginning of March have now arrived except for one -- a set of six Watchmen lego figures. They were sent by ePacket and should have gotten here weeks ago. I really wanted that Doctor Manhattan :(

tracking has it in Guangzhou last (over a month ago) so I'm pretty sure it's just gone. I'm bugging them to send me another one.

it's baffling to me why everyone fixated on doctor manhattan's (statuesque, understated) dong as the big controversial bit in a movie that has several close-up high-detail shots of people getting their hands sawed off or their legs snapped like twigs or just getting blasted apart into a pile of goo. nobody goes "oh, no, don't read that comic book, it has a subtly drawn penis in it now and then!"

I had my first AliExpress self-own today, I bought a batch of rare-earth magnet balls expecting them to be roughly pea-sized based on the picture + my last set of them when the seller clearly listed them as being 3mm which is roughly the size of a sesame seed

I only have myself to blame, but they were so cheap and are still decent enough for fiddling around with so I am satisfied.

if you cut corners on lithium battery production, impurities can cause a short and a runaway lithium fire that burns super hot and fast and also you can't put it out with water. Not a super idea

my first self own was when I bought a light bulb without paying attention to whether it would actually be compatible with the socket I had. it burnt out in a pretty spectacular way, with a cartoonish wreath of smoke surrounding it.

and there was the time I bought some pretty polished stones and they turned out to be a handful of green gravel.

This has happened to me, too. In my case, they were all from Rose Beading, a supplier I ordered glass cabochons from once. I had already received all my stuff, so ??????

Some of them had duplicate tracking from packages I'd already received, so I think it was either to correct a "mistake" in their inventory or similar, or someone just wanted to finish their cigarette or whatever so they re-printed a bunch of labels and shipped a lotta empty envelopes

I've had stuff sit in China for months and months, then suddenly move for no apparent reason. Half the time, tracking doesn't update after leaving China anyway (although that's gotten much better in the last year, may not be that frequent now), and after I'm told a replacement is on the way or file a dispute, I obviously stop checking tracking on the original. So I've gotten some surprises. I always imagine China post moved a pile of boxes and found some packages after however long, and just shipped them normally.

But yeah, if it's not moving and you were told you'd have it by now, that's on them. Don't let then gently caress you over. Most sellers don't even wait to be asked, they just ship another package of thing as soon as they hear of a problem, because they want good reviews. Or because other sellers do that and they're trying to compete. That's how I got six pairs of shoelaces instead of two. And more 14mm round glass cabochons than I can count.

It's not out of line if they ask you to wait & extend purchase protection, but it's your decision if you actually do want to wait or not.
