Yeah hygiene is obviously a bullshit reason The actual reason is that a lot more people became practitioners of sex magic and became impervious to disease. Sex magic is taboo in the third world so they still have measles and polio there

To return this thread to its original intent I pressent to you all a big hokning hit of the good poo poo. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EEUHfDz2ZEY You can literally skip to any portion of this video and you will find an equally hilarious stream of nonsense which exists in complete discoennection to any other stream of nonsense you will otherwise stumble upon. If you don't believe me then play this game with yourself: Skip forwards or backwards randomly 4-6 times, landing upon any point in this video you like. You will find a completely novel stream of nonsense being confidently explained to you by the most sanctimonious bullshit artist you have ever heard at every point, and you will furhter have no idea how any of them are supposed to tie together into some sort of theme. Michael Tsarion is truly a treat for the connoisseur of conspiracy snakeoil- only someone well versed in a variety of conspiracy theorists can truly appreciate just how good this rear end in a top hat is at reading and manipulating his target audience into believing that they are incredible geniuses for sitting there and nodding in agreement with every irrational statement he makes.

it's impossible to get through to an antivaxxer. i made the mistake of engaging someone from high school on facebook about it and it was obvious she and her friends would just bury you in bullshit and even if you responded to all their points they'd just dismiss it as establishment propaganda or something. it was obvious from their talking points that they were used to responding to people who were fairly ignorant (bringing up the vaccine court was a big one) and not someone who knew how to respond to all their talking points. the denmark study alone debunks everything they believe but linking that didn't sway them one bit. there's all sorts of studies "proving" their point but they don't seem to realize that the website they were using doesn't have true peer review.

Antibiotics clear it up within about ten days. quote:Madilyn had been coughing for 60+ days. We hadn’t slept longer than 2 hours in months. UGGGGGH. Sleep, it’s for the select few parents who probably drug their kids or lock them in their rooms. That is not us. We read and cuddle to sleep every night. OH, how I just wanted to sleep for six hours straight for just one night, it would have been miraculous. The term “walking dead” described the new me. It was during this time, the first week in December that my husband sat me down, looked me in the eyes and said, “I trust you, but I am scared that one of our kids is going to die. I can't wait until scientists find out the "explosion" of autism in specifically the US is due to something taken from the mothers while pregnant. Psychotropic meds that entered the fetus's bloodstream? whatever other commonly used drugs that have been popularized since the 90s? perhaps something else yeah go ahead and say I'm dreaming this up, i don't blame you. I'm only saying this because I personally see vaccines as the last thing that can cause such a dramatic brain rewiring at a post-birth age that anti-vaxxers claim affects their kids

Or maybe there isn't an 'explosion' of autism, but rather a better understanding of mental issues and diagnoses that allow us to better classify children who would previously have just been written off as 'lazy' or 'stupid'.

High functioning autism is also a diagnosis du jour right now to explain a kid's bad behavior, much like ADHD before it. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying the illness is a fake (nor is ADHD), but sometimes parents feel helpless and want a diagnosis to help explain why their kid is acting a certain way.

Helen Highwater posted:Or maybe there isn't an 'explosion' of autism, but rather a better understanding of mental issues and diagnoses that allow us to better classify children who would previously have just been written off as 'lazy' or 'stupid'. The rise in rates of autism correlates very closely with an equally strong decline in the rate of diagnosis for retardation and other more general diagnoses. There was always a ton of autism and only in the last 10-15 years have people begun to understand it well enough to properly identify it.

Helen Highwater posted:Or maybe there isn't an 'explosion' of autism, but rather a better understanding of mental issues and diagnoses that allow us to better classify children who would previously have just been written off as 'lazy' or 'stupid'. Wouldn't call it "better understanding". More that they took a bunch of unrelated and only vaguely related things that used to be tracked separate, then declared all that stuff would now be called "autism spectrum". There happened to be at the same time more people bothering to take their kids to be checked out instead of just muddling through as before, but the "autism" rate jumping is entirely due to the fact that most people getting diagnosed on the "autism spectrum" now flat out did not qualify as having "autism" if you use the rules in place in say, 1987. In short, an autism diagnosis in the 80s in before almost always required very severe symptoms, with most of the people getting diagnosed being those who could barely speak if at all, and other such things.
