In any given election presidential, somewhere between 40% and 50% of people who are eligible to vote do not cast a ballot, and those numbers go way up for midterm elections. I think a lot of these people are gonna sit out 2018 and see what happens. Trump could turn it around with his base going into 2020 and win them back, but if he keeps doing what he's doing, I think a lot of them keep sitting out. If Democrats go with a Sanders-wing candidate in 2020, there's a chance some of them might flip over to the Democrats because I really don't see Trump improving their economic situation by then, but I still think that most of these people are gonna make up the nebulous pool of occasional voters that every Republican GOTV effort will try to turn out.

I thought about it, and I agree. when I was a kid, the episodes of cartoons that were origin stories were the most boring to watch because you know they have to end with the character in question coming to exist however they already are. if you can't fit a character's origin story with the opening title credit montage of the cartoon (ex. the original TMNT cartoon, or Freakazoid), they aren't important enough to have an origin story.
