it's notable that the deserts of kharak rts was being independently developed only as a "spiritual successor" by some of the original homeworld developers as a game called "hardware: shipbreakers" until it was bought up by and made an official homeworld property, in keeping with gearbox standard operating procedures.

Fair enough, that's based on Wikipedia's list which only had projects they put the studio's name on.

Since Borderlands 2, they have released:

-Aliens: Colonial Marines which was too famously garbage to have sold much.

-Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel which probably sold OK since a ton of people wanted more Borderlands at the time (e: guess it didn't)

-Borderlands remaster double pack for PS4, ditto.

-Homeworld remaster, from which they likely didn't get a whole lot of money but didn't meddle or take credit either, pretty much just doing the PC community a solid.

-Homeworld spinoff about which I know nothing but I don't think a budget RTS would be a major cash cow these days.

-Battleborn, about which nothing more needs to be said.

-Duke Nukem 3D 20th Anniversary World Tour, which now appears to have been a trial run for this strategy of repackaging old PC games at a huge markup and delisting the cheaper original at the same time. Limited appeal (especially since Duke Nukem Forever killed the franchise) and its target audience is now furious.

-Bulletstorm remaster.

I still kinda want Borderlands 3 but if we never get it I won't be too mad.

According to Randy Battleborn cost them more than Borderlands 1 & 2 combined, so Bulletstorm failing this hard might honestly be enough to sink the studio. The copies sold on steamcharts isn't even enough to pay their studio for a day's worth of work.

Though that might be all they did... :v:

They got rid of the entire first act where he goes back to the present after his first trip to make sure that it worked and to start over, the whole series is just one trip. Also they gave him a young sidekick who developed a love triangle with Oswalt's wife, they stayed in one place the entire time and skipped a lot of the stuff related to exploring the conspiracy, and they even gave him amnesia at one point just so they could kill an entire episode having him re-learn everything before the finale. Also they got rid of all the cool cosmic stuff with the Yellow Card Man and instead had him just be a fellow time traveler who went crazy.

Like I kind of figured there wouldn't be a huge trip to Derry because it would be another set just to be a reference to another book but all that is really fuckin' lame.

It sucks because that first episode was pretty decent.

The game giving you a personality test at the start and then giving you one of like ten very specific, not good at everything stands and forcing you to build your party around the flaws in your stand was a very good decision too, especially compared to, say, an Smt game where you have a lot more power to make a flexible generalist player character. I only played the first three or four maps of that game, I should really go back and finish it sometime. Doesn't it have a lot of story branches too?

Not just 10, but 18 iirc, with 3 from each possible category, and it was possible to say gently caress it and choose your own if you knew how to (find out about the cinderella salon and go there once you find the invite in the first map) though you suffer from having stats that aren't suited to the stand in question.

I also liked how they made the game as a big sendup of SaGa games since it purposefully apes the first three SaGa games graphically (those games being known over here as Final Fantasy Legend if anyone is familiar with those games).

There aren't that many branching paths though. There are a lot of little things, but the only major branching path is with hol horse where you can sacrifice yourself for polnareff instead of letting abdul do it, meaning you'll be away from the party for a bit and doing some original content hanging out with either Galahad and Miriam from Romancing SaGa for a bit or you'll hang out with Speedwagon and Stroheim if you found them, and then eventually team up with Hol Horse as you look for a submarine in a semi-annoying dungeon where you're being chased by Rolling Stone the whole time. Other than that, the only other major branches I can think of are all at the end of the game which determine how the ending goes, and hoo boy does that game have lots of endings :V The biggest shame imo is that, as far as endings go, not all of them go into new game +, and each new game + cycle adds to the counter and eventually unlocks additional stuff and one of my favorite endings (the one where hol horse switches sides and joins you during the fight against DIO) doesn't trigger the new game + option IIRC which is a shame.

To be honest I have a lot more fun with the game with everyone's levels cheated up to max haha, I figure it's more realistic that way anyway since it means everyone is wiping the floor with pointless/useless poo poo but when the stand battles happen, it comes down to a few hits exchanged.

I also always chose the "battle ends the same way as it did in the manga/anime" option 80% of the time and apparently that's really bad for XP gain and getting cool stuff

Do you do anything to your face or facial hair before using the trimmer? There are products out there specifically to help prime the hair for electric shaving.

Other than that it's either down to getting a newer/better shaver or going analog. But nothing's going to be better than a close shave with an analog razor.

Learn to use a manual razor, you're supposedly an adult. I'm sure there are actually good electric ones but they're probably very expensive.

Use the electric razor, then use a 3-blade razor and some gel for sensitive skin, shave with the grain, and feel like an adult.

If that's too intimidating, google local barbershops, find one that does shaves, go spend 3x the amount of money of a razor and gel for a stranger to get really really close to your face for half an hour goading you to talk about poo poo you don't care about.

Since Borderlands 2, they have released:
Right, lemme see...

Borderlands 2 DLC was farmed out to a number of studios, including such prestigious names as "the Duke Nukem Forever guys".

Development of chunks of Aliens was farmed out to like three other studios, at least one of which went bankrupt in the aftermath.

Pre-Sequel was made by 2K Australia (The Bureau) in-between closures.

Homeworld Deserts of Kharak was made by Blackbird Interactive, who I know nothing about but apparently they did a thing with NASA at DICE 2017 so I guess they aren't dead.

Duke World Tour was a weird collab between Gearbox, Nerve Software and some ex-3D Realms people. There was a lot of fuckery surrounding that release and you'd have to search far and wide to find someone happy with how the whole thing went down.

Bulletstorm was done by the fractured, broken remains of People Can Fly after a lot of the talented people left to form other studios like Flying Wild Hog and The Astronauts. The credits aren't on Mobygames yet so I don't know how deep Gearbox's tentacles delved.

The blame for everything else cannot be deflected.
