You don't need to grind to beat any boss in DQVIII, let alone 10+ levels

On 3DS, I did a bit of metal slime grinding, and got everyone to level 99 right after getting the Godbird travel ability. After that point, nothing was even a mild threat. Healing spells and items were pointless. Even the dragovian trials were a total cakewalk, to the point where the endgame wasn't actually much fun...

... But memories lane still wrecked my day repeatedly.

Is there a better place to metal slime grind than the Dragon Graveyard? The king slimes there are fairly easy to hunt down.

Yeah, Psyche Up is really really good at breaking fights - if you can just keep Jessica alive for a few turns (can you have the first Timbrel of Tension by that point?) you can pretty much nuke anything down before the last few bosses that have Disruptive Wave.

(doubly so once you get Morrie because he has an ability that psyches someone else up either 1 or 2 stages at random)

The only issue is that on the remake after like, maybe a boss or two post-Dhoulmagus everyone starts spamming their 'NO TENSION EVAAAAAAAAAAR' skill so it's really hard to make use of it by then.

Yeah, I was joking. :v: Maybe he should get a couple more levels, maybe not. I dunno. I don't even remember what level I was at that point.

That boss is a pretty big difficulty spike, but you don't need to grind levels to beat it. Make sure your party has good defenses, multiple reliable sources of healing, and your main healer immune to Fuddle.

I cleared the dark world. Thanks for the tip.

What determines dosh toss' power?

Some monsters it wrecks and others it barely hurts and every time you use it it does less damage.

I'm not familiar with the new skills, but there's a hidden Grapple element a lot of physical attack skills have that enemies have resistances to like Bang and Woosh. Maybe that's part of the problem?

In case anybody wants to get their hands on DS copies of DQ 4 or 5, the SE Spring Clearance Sale has them for $15 and $20 respectively.

Everything I've bought from one of these sales has been a brand-new copy, sealed and everything. Also Slime and She-Slime plushies, if you want those :kimchi:

Actually, I respectfully disagree with you there. For as obviously flawed as this game is, there ARE a lot of really good things about it. The presentation and atmosphere, for example, are the most immediate things. No other Yu-Gi-Oh game goes out of the way to really make
Hey guys, I don't know if anyone knows Japanese, but, does anyone know if anyone's created a redone version of iOS DQ6 - Satan's Castle? One that sounds more like the original SNES:

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=qDrkIHoEPVU&persist_app=1&app=m

And not like how it currently sounds?

https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ofPj9D-Tmhc&t=4m56su

Preferably it'd be something that uses the same quality of instruments that the iOS uses. Does anyone know of anything?

Apple devices don't have generic Bluetooth controller support? lmao

I don't know how it works on PS4, but on Steam it's just there. Periodically there will be a towns person with the "story progression" mark over their head, and when you talk to them it will start a very short (1 or 2) series of quests. The quest rewards are the slime weapons for the characters featured in the quests.

Has anyone else noticed a bug in dqh2 where you are holding up and running along and then you just lurch to a stop or stutter along for a second? I thought it was my controller but no other game does it and other controllers do it too in only this game

Makes the game really frustrating

Ps4 version btw

How is the Co-op in this game, is it its own thing or can you co-op the story like in some Dynasty Warriors games? This extra content is making me think I might need to get the game on PC sooner rather than later.

e: I should probably finish the first game. Only got partially in to it before getting pulled away by other stuff and never went back.

Welp, definitely going to have to grab this the next time it's on sale on Steam then. From the time I'd spent in the first game my only problems with it was the lack of co-op, and the general stupidity of your AI teammates in general.

You can only co-op the story missions you've already completed, so it's really only useful if one person has already cleared the game.

The other co-op are the "maps", which so far have been 2ish rooms full of enemies and a 3rd room with a boss.

9 has a job system but whether you like it or not may vary. 3 is the canon "job system DQ" in my head even though it's way different from the 7 style because you actively level back down to 1 when you switch.

9 suffers from the Ruida's Tavern Syndrome problem where your party members don't have personalities and also your hero is silent beyond "Yes/No" so the plot is just kinda told to you rather than something you move through.

But also it's got some loving incredible puns, one of which took like ten hours to pay off and I had totally forgotten that it was set up way earlier and then whammo.

Hello, friends. I've finally picked up Dragon Quest 8 and I've been playing it all week. I got to the Mole Hole near Ascantha today. I've been following some limited tips, but I'm always searching for more. It's the 3DS version, by the way. I haven't messed around with Morrie at all yet. Should I be doing that? Any other things I could be easily missing?
