Thankee kindly.
I found Ryuji really annoying around midgame when he starts getting really hyped about Phantom Thieves popularity and wanting to use it to attract girls. That's also when he gets his Akechi hate-boner, which doesn't really endear him to me either. Also the way he rags on Morgana goes over the line in the buildup to palace 5.

Ryuji becomes really stupid when the plot needs him to be.
He's not a bad character, but the writers tend to abuse him.

Ryuji's my 2nd favourite of the gang and his idiocy and bad decisions around mid-game are followed up on and turn into good scenes and development. Except for his argument with Morgana which gets largely ignored and forgotten. Probably because it was the worst part of the game.

He's a cool dude.

Yeah, the game definitely could have used a scene where Ryuji and Morgana bury the hachet.

Ryuji was a jerk but I can kind of relate to the situation. I have friends where we have the same sort of relationship where we rib each other constantly and I've definitely had a time or two where I took it too far without intending to be harmful. It usually resolves the same way too, where you both huff off for a little while then hang out like nothing happened because the apology is just understood.

Like, it's not even that there's no apology. It's just a bad plotline. Like the whole thing exists to get Morgana to meet Haru and to show that he has insecurities about his origins. But that doesn't require Ryuji to explore. Hell, it doesn't require an argument. They spend half a week on it but it never gets brought up again because it's just not important. It's a contrived and lame bit of writing for both characters, in what I consider a pretty decently written game. So the whole thing's kind of a shame.

To be even more specific, the game also gates your confidants behind this meeting, since as usual party member confidants stop hanging out with you a week before the deadline, but having the meeting opens them up again.

And there's no way for you to know that this different meeting even happens, much less that you're party confidants will be unlocked again.

Well, you always have a meeting before you send a calling card, so you'll do it naturally after you clear the dungeon, it's not like it's obscure.

No, that's perfectly fine. If it's party members, they'll often invite you out to movies or whatever or come over to play some games, at which point you get points with them. But you should absolutely do Fortune even if you don't rank up, because once you hit rank 7 you can pay 5k to get boost in your relationship with whoever you want once per day (without taking up time), which is often enough to give you the edge you need.

Eventually you'll have to start spending time with them without ranking them up to get anywhere. Try getting Chihaya up to rank 7 and you can give her 5k yen to get a confidant closer to a rankup without taking up any time.

lol, femc sketches.

Sae looks so old in the concept art where she's smoking a cigarette that I have to imagine the original concept was for her to be Makoto's mom. Maybe they decided that overlapped too much with Futaba and Haru's parental issues?

ApplesandOranges

I imagine with Sae some of the story beats would have felt more different if she was a mom rather than a sister. Makoto stealing data from her mom and getting scolded for being 'useless' would have certainly taken on a different shade.
