The custom fast travel has at least one use I can think of: Getting to Tarrey Town without needing to paraglide down from the cliff every time.

After checking out some cutscenes in different languages. I think It's a tie between Russian and Spanish for best voice acting. Japanese is the worst.

From the trailers Spanish was great. And I 3/4 speak it so it was cool.

Hard mode is disappointing but I was only expecting combat changes to begin with so it's not a huge loss. A Master Quest style overhaul doesn't really make sense, since rearranging where things are makes little sense in a game where you can go anywhere to begin with. I'm hoping there are challenges associated with all the new armor, though, as opposed to the chests just being dumped in a lake or something.

Hey thread / mods:

I made an Android app that lets you search for BOTW recipes and calculate buffs. It automatically filters out bad ingredients or ones that would cancel out another buff, and you can search for any recipes you can make with any given set of ingredients.

Would it be OK to post a link here? If so, I'll generate some goon promo codes (it's normally $0.99) and post them along with it.

It's Nintendo's fault for not explaining what Hard Mode was at the outset, since you can do it in a single breath. Tell me you're dropping a new Hard Mode but be cagey about what it entails for months and I'm going to expect more than an HP boost for enemies.

Don't forget that Hard Mode means you're fighting more groups of regenning enemies at the same time, plus (I imagine) balloon-flying enemies who (I will also imagine) have horns to blow. :toot:

Yeah, I was wondering when we were gonna talk about the whole "enemIes and treasures in the sky" thing, which is one aspect of Hard Mode that actually sounds interesting.

Regen plus all enemies ranking up will at least make me feel less bad about raiding Hyrule Castle right off the plateau.

Out of all of the stuff in this DLC, the only bit that seems worth more than a dollar is the Trail of the Sword which is still mostly just coding where and how things work on an engine that probably makes it stupid easy to set up. I was honestly expecting more since half this stuff (map path, easy teleports, hard mode) would have been a part of a free quality of life patch for any other game. Also, Korok mask should've been in base game already as a prize for getting all 120 shrines. Why? Because what you do get is already linked to an Amiibo, which is bullshit.
Bullshit that is equal to the fact that the game is coded for companions (wolf link) but you don't actually get to experience that w/o buying a plastic toy. Nintendo can still make a great base game and other titles got some real valuable DLC but I still don't think they understand DLC as a whole.
Whatever, like my complaints matter.

I'm pretty okay with this first DLC pack. I like more clothes, I like dens of trials, it's a shame the Korok mask will never serve a function that isn't dress ups for me and I need to decide if my fast travel point will be Tarrey Town or my place in Hateno.

My thoughts on Hard Mode depend entirely on whether it's a "chose your difficulty when starting the game" deal or a "press switch to change game mode to hard" deal. If it's the former, I will likely never actually use it.

I understand your frustrations, but Wolf Link is implemented in game so poorly that i'm okay with it being stuck behind a plastic toy.

It straight up despawns out of the game if you get too far away from it too fast, so if you jump off a high area and paraglide away, that thing is going to peace out almost instantly. So now that you are escort missioning your assistance to keep it around, it's also dumb as rocks and will attack everything for minimal damage, with no regards for it's own health.

I spawned it in twice, the first time I paraglided down to Hateno from the research building and it instantly despawned, the second time keeping it around and alive slowed my exploration to a halt and took a decent amount of my apples and meat while doing maybe 3 damage per attack.

Wolf Link is designed in such a way that it's only useful on the plateau. As soon as you are ready to leave it, Wolf Link is more a burden than anything.

As long as Wolf Link was still alive when you last saw him, you can keep spawning him in. So you can spawn him in, do some thing and then teleport across the map and spawn him in again.

You aren't wrong, but amiibo fiddling is sort of a pain in the arse, so it's still not the best plan for something that hits like a paper bag while aggroing everything.

Also I bought the season pass purely for the Switch shirt. I bought a $20 digital shirt, and the QoL poo poo and story/gameplay content coming later was just a bonus.

Maybe they did at one point, but (like a lot of things) it was changed in development.

Especially if being able to control some aspect of the DB was always a thing, they might have had some problems with enemies that weren't floating heads or tiny sentry bots.

I dunno, the first DLC pack seems fine to me  I'm a sucker for new outfits, Cave of Trials from Twilight Princess was a lot of fun so Hero's Path should be cool, being able to find new Koroks a bit easier is something that I'm fine with adding in as DLC as opposed to being there from the start, same with the Master Sword thing. Especially if we get new story stuff and a dungeon and some other extras in pack 2, it seems p. fair for the price, considering the absolutely massive amount of content in the main game.

For people that are going to be actually trying for all the koroks, that mask is going to be a loving GODSEND in Hyrule Castle. I had to use two different maps, a bunch of time coordinating those with the in game dungeon map, and a bunch of guesswork for where quite a few of them were.

My favorite korok moment involved a golden one placed in a precarious spot in hyrule castle that said- "Buh-bye" to me, and as soon as I cleared that miscreant's dialogue box I was promptly blasted by a laser.

Hey I got a kind of off topic question: fans of the series often talk about wanting a more "mature" Zelda game, and I'm having trouble tracking down anyone who actually expanded on what that meant. In the conversations I've had, it usually means they want better story and combat, but that's kinda thin.

Majora's Mask is what I think of for a Zelda along that line in that it basically picks up immediately where OOT leaves off and feels like an evolution. It's dark in a way that isn't just dumb nihilism and people dying for the sake of it and it explores some heavy ideas in a pretty interesting way.

If most Zeldas are intended for a first time player that one was very definitely intended for someone who played OOT first, and if I wanted a "mature" Zelda I want more of that one.
