At this rate you might not even get off that island you're vacationing on, much less PCS back to Osan. If this were any other time prior to Trump taking over I would laugh off the "tension" in the AOR right now, but folks are getting nervous even in Japan with reports leaking out that we will retaliate when the Norks do their nuke test. Sometimes I miss Korea, but I don't miss Korea right now...

There is a small Qatari base/building that I think is off limits just off the main roundabout by the front gate. Might actually be a Mosque, but I'm pretty sure its off limits. Don't go wandering around on the far side of the base near the ammo bunkers, they tend to pull people over and get rather agressive about asking what you are doing there.

Grew up a couple of miles away, moved back when I got out in 2012, moved away in 2015, visit about once a month. If you like the outdoors, you'll love it. If you're into the club scene, SLC is surprisingly liberal, and has some legit good bars. Utah also has some really good microbrews. I live near Reno and wish I had the UT beer scene. The closer you get to the mountains, the higher the price of housing. I'd try to avoid Ogden, Clearfield, and certain parts of Layton (some areas are really nice though) when you're house/apt hunting. Generally south of Layton is pretty nice, but there are at most two highways...and they merge a few miles away. One accident can royally gently caress the commute, and Mormons can't drive for poo poo. If you have specific questions, ask away here or in PM or whatever.

I've got a dumb question that might come up for me in the next few years because I'm a fat-body. Isn't there some rule on PT tests if you fail abdominal but pass the other portions? I'm steadily creeping towards 39 inches but my run is sub-11 and the other parts haven't been an issue.

Chances are, at least in my unit, your commander can help you get a waiver for your waist size as long as you are passing all other portions.

There's Space-A, but you're balancing the risk of almost-free flying vs not having a flight/seat available when you need it.

So much for getting my Master's at AFIT. They rejected my application and said I need to retake a couple college classes before reapplying, then once I registered at the local university they told me I need to take graduate level courses which the university doesn't offer to non-degree students. What a humiliating experience.

I'm currently a non-degree student at AFIT ( I work on base )--- After my initial denial, I was given a list of classes to retake before reapplying for part-time studies. The list changed three times in 7 months. (Also, there is some minor drama going on behind the scenes in one of the departments at the moment. You may have dodged a bullet without realizing it. )

When I used to do it I got out on every flight (most folks are too lazy or scared to leave Ramstein) and you could park in a grass lot for free while you're gone. Just make sure to sign up for the return at 0000 on your first day of leave so you can beat out all the folks who wait til they want to leave to sign up.

I'm steadily creeping towards 39 inches but my run is sub-11 and the other parts haven't been an issue. This whole "your command will work with you" is bullshit. I've been a UFPM and a FAC augmentee off and on for like 7 years now. The only thing that is going to keep your waist out of the conversation when it comes to a PT test is a waiver signed by a doctor/whatever medical person is signing your 469. If you don't have a 469, the FAC is not supposed to waive any part of the test for you. Whether they do it is possibly another story, but I've never seen any portion waived without an actual AF469 signed by medical. Also, people saying the Air Force doesn't measure your neck are also wrong. If you fail the waist but might be possible to do a Body-Fat Analysis test that involves measuring your neck and chest, then you MIGHT be able to pass. For reference, I've seen that test performed 6 times and have a few other FAC folks administer it and I don't know anyone who has personally passed anyone on a BFA. Apparently they designed it to be next to impossible to pass because the air force thinks waist is a big indicator of not being a fat rear end (it really isn't, but Air Force). My best advice for you is, besides more cardio to lean out your muscles and HIIT to burn fat off, do the old ben gay wrap the night before. You'll shave about an inch off. whatspeakyou fucked around with this message at 14:01 on May 4, 2017 |
