as much as I appreciate "every frame a painting" sometimes I can't stand him despite annoyingly agreeing. maybe it's the sometimes nauseating detail or his nasally voice. maybe I'm too accustomed for my film analysis being punctuated by rich evan's laugh and shame

Has Rich Evans lost a lot of weight? Though, the dude's always had skinny arms. It certainly looks like he has dropped a bunch of weight just looking at the start of that. e: Did they ever do Metal Gear Rising on PreRec? If I recall correctly that game actually adresses a bunch of their criticisms of bayonetta. Shorter more focused move list, all boss fights are brawls pretty much, less cutscenes, that kind of thing. I liked this, thanks. Its a bit simplified and ignores a lot of poo poo to benefit his argument, but it was interesting. I don't like No Small Parts because he's kind of an rear end in a top hat, which I don't mind usually, but when your content is so loving boring you have to have some gimmick other than "balding rear end in a top hat with a huge ego".

I went to see Ghost in the Shell a week or two back. It was disappointing. Great cast, couldn't have picked better. But I really wished they copied scenes wholesale, frame for frame. When they do it's great. When they remix they gently caress up as they don't understand why the originals worked. They understand all the original shows technical details with a poo poo loads of references and callbacks but a lot of them are red herrings robbed of their meaning as they thoughtlessly drop them out of context or any running theme. It is also nowhere near violent enough. This got an R right? If it did it is the softest R ever. Attacking the Yakuza office should have been an amazing blood bath but they didn't copy that because it would have been too awesome? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cNuL8cVxXMA This pattern repeats through out the film where they water down an awesome scene and/or miss the point. It doesn't help that most of the action scenes were to dark to see anything. It's the film equivalent of homoeopathy. It's a serviceable film, but they shouldn't have tried being clever as they aren't good enough to do the remix.
