Carrie is fantastic, top 3 King adaptation for me and top 3 De Palma as well imo

So how terrible is the new ATDI record?

# ? May 6, 2017 03:58 |

It's fun actually, but ATDI nostalgia blinds me. Like I own Omar's solo stuff, it could be 45 minutes of farts and I'd be like "This is a fine return to form!"

Slice of life: I feel like I've matured. I could have stolen a sombrero and a traffic cone. But I know I don't have room for that. So I stole a baseball cap and left the traffic cone on my sister's car

Content: I might add Carrie to my theoretical movie sleeve (along with the poster to The Thing). Also I blame the Crow for my attraction to skinny pale boys with long hair.

There's at least one company that can actually afford to pay people now!

Michelle Obama seems not crazy but like a lot of heroes of left these days she's getting help you way too high for saying some middle of the road decently written fluff that just speaks to the base and does nothing more

The Crow is awwwwwwful. I got the same feeling out of it after watching Donnie Darko; people hyped up both of them and they're just straight up bad.

The Crow is great, not for Brandon Lee (I mean he's fine but whatever) but for Michael Wincott's performance as Top Dollar. And also for the comically incongruous message about how drugs are bad but murderous revenge sprees are awesome.

Hat Thoughts posted:Why? Because I think it's pretty interesting that the central conceit of Carrie is that someone who is bullied and abused and pushed too far has access to a power that people don't expect or have a way to defend against. It's thematically identical to a school shooting, and yet it's really common for people to sympathize with Carrie in a way that would be much less socially acceptable if the mechanism of her wrath was less fantastic.

The Crow movie and comic are to being around 16 year old as Spaceballs is to being around 13 years old. At that age it will be the best thing ever and if your watch it for the first time later than that it will be a mystery why anyone would like it. I do think The Crow is at least well made though, it's just a gothy corny story with heaping helping of Hollywood badness thrown in for good measure axelblaze fucked around with this message at 06:26 on May 6, 2017 |

The Wraith's dense confluence of similar-looking mulleted white dudes across different narrative threads, timelines, and spectral planes made the story very confusing to me for the first half of the film. The Wraith is a film deeply compromised by having competing narratives: "I've come back from the dead to urge you to stand up for yourself, girl! But also, I'm gonna kill your abusive partner in a lethal drag race." edit: The Wraith takes place in the 80's vision of the 50's vision of the 80's. The Wraith ends with the protagonist giving another character a parting gift of a futuristic car directly linked to multiple homicides Anonymous Robot fucked around with this message at 14:59 on May 6, 2017 |
