I got Spelunky for PS4 and I got to Olmec on my second attempt and then I got squished clinging to his side trying to get him to fall down a death pit. I think using the 360 pad for so long to play it was like wearing weighted clothes and now I have a PS4 d-pad and I am moving at twelve times the speed and power

I bought Prey! The controls are clunky and feel pretty muddy, movement in general is not very fun-feeling, but other than that it's drat good so far.

Jay Rust posted:Is there a meaningful difference between fanart and fanfiction, really Well, I think that depends on the if the fanart has a narrative aspect to it, and whether that aspect is a creation of the artist, or a depiction of an event in the source material. Like, it's not fanfiction to draw a picture of some that happened in the source material. Like, Sephiroth killing Aeris. But if you draw a picture of Cloud and Sephiroth making out, your fan art is also fan fiction.

Jay Rust posted:Is there a meaningful difference between fanart and fanfiction, really One is visual which typically prevents those bad at it from putting it up publicly. The other is words and every fuckoff thinks they can string words together well so there's a surplus of it shared by people who are bad at it.

fanart makes ok money if you go to cons and sell it, and if you can sell it online while managing to hover out of the copyright lawyer radar i don't do it personally but i don't get mad at it anymore. TV productions now will hire artists based on just seeing their work on social media and the stuff that goes the most viral is fanart. so fanart has literally resulted in job opportunities (CH Greenblatt talked about this once when they hired for Harvey Beaks) The 7th Guest fucked around with this message at 05:42 on May 7, 2017 |

It's standard knowledge among digital artists these days that indulging in fan art at least occasionally is pretty much essential for building up an online following. The numbers boost and engagement rates for fan art versus original stuff for a no name or even somewhat known artist can be hilariously skewed. Also it's just mostly artists havin' fun, yo!
|
# ? May 7, 2017 05:59 |
The overwhelming success of fan art vs original art, especially sexy fan art, is just part of how modern society is a capitalist nightmare where people just want to consume their favorite brands in as many ways as possible.

I mean mostly in the sense that you spend a majority of the early game preparing for a conflict, only in this case if you get ganked or outplayed your game is over and you have to restart in a new game.

Classical artists all did bible fan art to help get popular. Like, it's kind of different, but the ratio of 'original' art to 'fan art' had always been a balance between illustrating popular character/events and creating new ones.

The game runs on the same engine as Dishonored 2, and I didn't really like how the movement felt in that game either. Just feels very imprecise, especially in the air, which is a bad thing because you get a jetpack early on in this one. Also I am tired of video games where you move slow as molasses, improved to slightly slower than a turtle with all the movement speed upgrades. *glares at re7*
