Bernie is capitalist scum but he's the let's version of a compromise candidate so it's OK to simultaneously criticize him and support his moves in the Senate. That this concept is somehow lost on 99% of left twitter.com is proof that we have not escaped the vampire's castle.

I've decided to retract all support from Bernie Sanders since he doesn't support BDS and will now has instead watch from the sidelines as Mark Zuckerberg and Chelsea Clinton run against Donald Trump.

oh, i meant officially the podcast of a dsa chapter rather than a podcast with dsa members in it (tho it's probably hard to make a clear distinction). dsasf's pondering the former rather than the latter.

One of the newest DSA chapters is in my state, but not in a community I can reach. They set me up with someone else who wants to start a chapter in my region, though, and I think we're making a go of it. It's a weird situation because we're both in separate, isolated communities, but both communities are in a part of the state that typically represent together when there aren't enough people in any one town to make a proper effort of things. When I got in touch with him, he had already put in the necessary chapter interest form, but I'll be attending the call since he'll be out of the country. I'm pretty nervous. When I reached out I didn't know it would be someone in a different city, and as a result it's likely he'll be relying on me to do the necessary groundwork here. He knows people in his community who are interested, but everyone I know is a centrist or the brand of leftist that prefers to sit around and judge people for stuff like, uh, participating in protests? Not real helpful, and I personally have no organizing experience whatsoever. Well, that's me. Excited and terrified, but really eager to participate in the DSA.

Actually, I owe them notes for the part of the seminar they had to miss, so maybe by the time I email in those, I'll have been added to the list. quote:The PPG event is the evening of Sunday 5/14 in Oakland. Yeah, can't win them all. It is both frustrating and encouraging that other chapters seem to be doing some really awesome work. For the time being I am just trying to help out where I can and spend the rest of my efforts on other progressive causes like Wolf-PAC.

No idea what SF is up to.

has dsa made an effort to establish direct lines of communication and coordination to and with comparable parties abroad? because (french and other elections notwithstanding) it certainly seems as though the far right is on the move throughout europe as well. coordination of action and planning, sharing of resources, lessons learned and best practices etc. all seem very desirable in the age of trump, and more broadly in an era characterized by free movement of capital but high levels of constraints on workers eta: i'm aware of the affiliation with the socialist international; but, in addition to general misgivings voiced upthread, looking at their website, it doesn't appear they actually do much of anything apart from holding meetings and issuing various types of proclamations and other documents (which seem to be more topically focused, e.g., "SI Declaration on climate change", than action oriented) Red Dad Redemption has issued a correction as of 01:55 on May 9, 2017 |
