What do you like about the NDs more?

I wish the Fiat or the 2016 NDs had hard tops because I'd be all over them but I'm going to be living down town and parking in a parking garage. I think the added security of the hard top is important. Also I'm in Texas where the extra insulation would be helpful vs a soft top.

NC pros:
Hardtop
Glove box and slightly bigger trunk
Steering felt better
Smoother ride
Feels less cramped. Might not be true.
I like the stupid smile on the front.

ND/fiat pros:
Better performance and gas mileage (I get 20mpg in my NC sitting in Atlanta traffic all day)
More comfortable seats
Higher trim version had nice features (blind spot, lane departure, cool little knob in the middle near the shifter that controls the radio)
Looks better (except for the soft top)

I don't track or race, so the performance of the NC is perfectly fine for me and creature comforts are what I was really looking at. I had to "fix" the seats on my NC since it was killing my lower back, but it was easily fixed by some foam padding and a seat cover.

This is awesome and exactly what I'm looking at. I'm not planning to race but want something sportier for daily commuting and that's fun to drive. So it looks like the NC is the right choice.

I also like the big goofy smile :3:

At least give the ND a test drive. The driving dynamics are mostly the same, but the cabin is a bit tighter on the ND, the torque comes on way lower, and better MPG to boot. It'll only cost you time.

All right. It's Saturday night; I have no date, a two-liter bottle of Shasta and my all-Rush mix-tape... Let's rock.

The ND has a locking glove box, it's just behind you. There's also a hidden compartment behind each seat.

Glory To the Order!
Prhts and the rf both lose the behind the seat compartments.

The main draw for an ND for me would be the fuel economy. However until an RF is in my price range I will be sticking with a prht nc.

Dude. Why does this happen. Every other car I drive nobody cares when I speed, but the I drive Miata 5mph under and I get yelled at, waved at, and honked at by angry people who think I'm going too fast.

I'm running Wilwood 160-5840 rotors with BP-10 Pads in the front. Rears are Wilwood 160-3305. Do any of you see an issue running Hawk HP+ in the rear? Only street use the car sees is driving to and from the track.

Current rear pads have about 5mm left which should be fine for another track day but thinking I should replace them after that since the original pad material is about 12mm.

Thanks.

E: Also has anyone used the Stoptech street performance pads on the track? They're pretty cheap but I'm worried about disintegrating or fading too quickly.

I believe my friend has used Stoptech street performance pads on his NB on the track. I don't think he's had any issues.

The dealership suddenly can't go below $20K tonight. So I guess I'm not going to be a Miata owner today :smith:

I used to do this. If someone came back it meant I was their best offer so I could raise my price. Wait longer until they're tired of it sitting there.

I figured it was either that or they had another interested party who is a sucker or since the sales person I originally talked to wasn't there today they were doing a good cop/bad cop thing and she'll call me tomorrow being "OH IM SO SORRY BUT I CAN MAKE YOU A DEAL AT 19.5" or something.

Also I peaked in their managers office and the two people I've been talking to have the most sales for the month marked on the tracking board which means they're in no hurry to make a deal. :catstare:

Dealers are scum.

Every dealership car I've ever looked at, new and used, the sales person has used the line "someone else is interested and coming tomorrow, don't miss your chance!"

I liked the Fiat until I drove the ND. I had my NC in for some work about two weeks ago and drove both an ND Club and the Fiat 124 (might've been a Lusso?). Both are nice cars, both handled well, but the 124 just felt way more floaty and distant. Not sure how to describe it - almost like you'd give it an input but it'd be reluctant to respond immediately. It definitely had a bit more power (and turbos are fun). It also had more body roll in the corners. Granted, both were used but I don't think either had north of 10k on them. The interiors are nearly identical, but I liked the Fiat seats a bit more. I think that if it came down to it, I might take a 124 over the ND Sport, but not over a Club. I would like to try out the Abarth at some point, however, as the Fiat 500 Abarth was a lot of fun.

It was even worse Monday night, I had one of my bigger speaker cabs riding shotgun so the bass was standing straight up. Stuck over the windshield by about 4" - I should have put a wig and googly eyes on it to use the carpool lane on the bridge.

I had thought the pictured small-gig combo amp would fit in the trunk but it's too deep by about an inch. My wife blew out her knee and can't drive stick right now so if she has the other car I have to get creative.

edit: or I sell Miata and get RX8

I swear I was taught to angle it so you see the edge of your car. Angling it out also skews it from the natural contour of side mirror shell, as though it's not designed to do that.

So, I fell in love with the mid-90s design when one came through my shop, and I found a 1996 for sale recently. Are there any pitfalls specific to miatas or that generation aside from the usual used car stuff?

Unless you asbolutely have to have an automatic, try to get a manual. Half the fun of driving a Miata is the gears.

I've got an auto '96 for the gf. Drives fine. Like everybody else said, half the fun is shifting. I wouldn't recommend it.

Welp, ruined the ND.

Fatcow helped me put Konis on the car today. Drove it around with the Bridgestone Potenza S001s that came with the car, and I can't get it to wiggle any more. It just sticks. I'm still not convinced to drop $500+ on a front sway bar, but we'll see what happens. I need to flip the RE-71Rs, though... the insides are pristine but the outsides are :zombie: .

I have an NC1 Touring. The extra lip and side skirts make it look a bit less cute. It's also far more comfortable than the dozen NBs I sat in prior to purchasing it.
