And that's just Warcraft. I think Starcraft is even worse on the corruption. I don't think there's a single bad guy in that series that wasn't just a bad guy. Everyone is a corrupted dude. Even the loving Zerg are just a regular big race that's corrupted to be evil.

Mengsk was just a dude who wanted power and became a dictator (unless I missed a retcon somewhere). It's when you have magic / space magic Corrupting people over and over that it gets silly.

Also want Narrators to poo poo talk the characters they are narrating.

I'd be keen to see characters thinking "No one must know that I am Superdude!" while two other characters in the same panel are debating Superdude's secret identity.

I always heard Claremont was (in)famous for being verbose. Sounds like he's my kind of guy.

You'd love Doug Moench (unjustly underrated and forgotten) and Don McGregor, then, too. And if you want to read some Claremont before he was **CLAREMONT**, his early Iron Fist stuff is pretty entertaining (although the second-person narration can be make-or-break for some people), and as a bonus you've got good early Byrne work to look at there.

Yeah I think Claremont's X-Men would probably be up your alley. It's very "old school" in terms of captions, thought bubbles and even dialogue ("Oh no! This person touched me and now Ahm absorbing their powers!") literally explaining stuff that's drawn on the page. It's still great comics, though.

It's not even "evil." Their entire motive is a mix between survival instinct and the belief that assimilation is actually beneficial the other races.

Actually this got retconned in Starcraft 2 so that the Zerg were actually corrupted slaves of the real big bad Amon Space Satan but the Overmind from SC1 corrupted Kerrigan into the Queen of Blades as a sort of backdoor attempt to escape from Space Satan's control by turning her extra powerful and giving her more free will than the usual Zerg creations. Not even kidding, this is literally central to the plot of SC2 where Kerrigan turns out to be the savior of the universe.

Starcraft 2's writing is real bad.

Sorta. Also there are Dark Protoss but one of them is voiced by John de Lancie going full ham and he actually winds up stealing the show a lot of the time.

I liked the first issue of Secret Warriors, but it's having the same issue with Kamala that other series she's been in as more than just a guest character have had. The writer is overfocusing on her idealism at the cost of her other personality traits. Where Secret Warriors is at right now isn't exactly the right moment for levity, but Kamala is again sounding older than she does in her own series. I would describe Kamala in Ms. Marvel as "fun", but I don't think I'd use that word to describe her in any other book she's starred in.

One last thing about Warcraft: the setting used to have straight up demons and bad guys but over time they all got retconned into being formerly good, even things like beings made entirely of darkness or space vampires are remnants of non-evil races. The leader of the demons is basically a celestial from Marvel who turned evil after going into hell, except now hell wasn't evil all along but also got corrupted.

None of it makes sense.

Here are some major Warcraft villains:

A black dragon who was corrupted. A paladin who was corrupted. An elven archer who was corrupted. A blue dragon who was corrupted. A guardian deity who was corrupted. A demon hunter who was corrupted. An orc shaman who was corrupted. Another orc shaman who was corrupted. A green dragon who was corrupted. A druid who was corrupted. A different druid who was corrupted. A dwarven emperor who was corrupted.

The list goes on and on, I think the only entities that weren't corrupted at some point are the Lovecraftian elder gods in the setting.

It's because magic in Warcraft's setting is incredibly volatile. Warcraft's cosmic level and magical stuff has shifted more towards Manichaen duality where the Self is more important than the magic being wielded and a lot of the characters that've fallen usually do so of their own volition or through other things that lead them down that path.

That's a retcon that came in extremely late in the series.

I don't remember but Diablo in that game is reborn by corrupting one of your npc buddies.

Happy Noodle Boy

Nah I think the prime and lesser evils were always evil. But they're different degrees of evil and mainly exist to try to kill each other and also everything else. There's a few angels and demons that said gently caress all this and went to hang out on earth and that's how we have the humans or nephalems or whatever the player character is.

Back to Marvel: any word of when the F4 may make a comeback? I would love to see Valeria and Bentley hang out with now-good Victor. Mainly because I can just imagine how pissed off Bentley would be about it while Valeria would be all about making Victor into an even better hero. Bonus points if Doom saves Reed from whatever inter-dimensional poo poo he brings back. Because you don't go and recreate the multi-verse without loving something up.

While I have a soft spot for thought bubbles I think it's better to use narration boxes because they should take up less space if they're not circular and more space for art is always better.

It's pretty mediocre I think. The best part about it is that I like the new costume that I assume is from the Netflix series more than the old one, which I'm sure speaks quite a bit about how good it is.
