yeah someone said fuschia is on par with maybe something that would be released 40 years ago. also dart is gonna be the new language. cause it's java that's to blame for anroid being such poo poo, not google being unable to write a worthwhile userland after years of anroid existing

oh, and it's not normal dart, it's dart with a new optional type system bolted on

cause that's the new thing for idiot p-langers, wishing they weren't p-langers by bolting broken type systems onto their p-langs

Meanwhile in the samsung world

Repair Shops Are Stoked That the Samsung Galaxy S8 Is the Most Fragile Phone Ever Made

quote:

Soon after its release, electronics insurance company SquareTrade put Samsung's new flagship phone through its breakability test, a series of drops, dunks, and tumbles. It was deemed the most breakable phone of all time: "S8 is the first phone we've tested that's cracked on the first drop on ALL sides,"

early mac os x days had supported java bindings for cocoa so it's entirely possible that there were some sufficiently-concealed java apps that worked and nobody knew about

java runs on some extremely low power cores. sidekicks did everything on the server so the java os didn't do that much.

that button is not a general purpose back button. it returns you to the app that launched the current app. like if you clicked on a link that opens a browser, it takes you back to the app where the link was, or if you click on a notification that takes you to messages, you can get back to the app you were using before that. it's a continuity shortcut.

Seems like a problem that could be solved by simply having a constant back button, preferably at the bottom where someone's thumb is rather than at the top of an 18" long phone

The fact of the matter is this: there are three mobile operating systems, iOS android and win phone. Win phone is years dead, iOS is unusable by anyone but the most retarded. Android, otoh, provides a usable, visually appealing system with no hidden gestures to access commonly used functions. Android is the os of the people, and will continue to dominate mobile os share for years to come

And what does that dedicated back button take you back to? To the previous screen in the same app? To the app you were using when you tapped a link that sent you to the current app? The home screen?

Contextual back buttons that are only present when necessary are way better than Android garbage.
