In the preview for next week, Anubis is talking with Laura about being dead, so they probably wanted to introduce him before that Interestingly, Fuller said that that scene was the original cold open of the entire show, not the Odin beach scene. They changed it because the network wanted them to start with something more masculine that still describes what's going on in the world. I think it was a good change, awesome as the Anubis scene was.

Yeah, that was my take too; He's not hiding from Media, he's hiding from the added complication of his face showing up on the news once the theft is uncovered. I think Media was just watching him (or possibly Shadow), not watching to see if Wednesdays face is on camera.

I noticed it after Shadow kinda tried to hide his face and kept seeing cameras, going "gently caress" and then it cut to a shot that was perfect, where Wednesday is right behind Shadow's shoulder kinda covering his face, to avoid being seen. Shadow gets seen but Wednesday uses him to avoid being seen. Metaphorical, that.

The Vikings one just sort of dragged and all the blood looked fake as hell, and the tone isn't really consistent with the rest of what we've seen so far. But I thought the Anubis thing was touching and beautifully shot and acted and also kind of terrifying at the end - it shows that even the kind gods are kinda hosed up. It would've been perfect.
