They're going to act like he's being strong armed by the UFU, but he genuinely wants to give them a raise and improve their conditions because they're professional people stopping you and your poo poo from being burned to a crisp.

Frogfingers posted:The two were an overlapping clusterfuck for years, why are people upset about the consolidation other than tradition or heritage or whatever? State and Federal Libs whipped the volunteers into a frenzy before the last state election, and made it a noisy election issue. Federal Libs then passed legislation preventing an enterprise bargaining agreement for paid CFA staff from passing (by allowing volunteers to appeal/veto clauses they disagreed with) as a way of saying thanks. The State Libs were pushing a "hands off the CFA" agenda, in that they were objecting to the EBA via the volunteers association (fronted by a sycophantic Lib fuckhead). State Govt (Labor) received advice that any future EBA would be untenable due to the legislation the Federal Libs passed. State Govt says "Have what you want, have hands off the CFA, have your volunteer only organisation" and is now intending to consolidate both CFA and MFB into a single fire service called Fire Rescue Victoria.

Only consolidating CFA career firefighters and the MFB. CFA will remain, but be volunteer only. Also intending to go from 100 paid female firefighters to 400. WhiskeyWhiskers fucked around with this message at 05:59 on May 19, 2017 |

Premier Annastacia Palaszczuk could win the next state election by a very narrow margin if it was held today, new polling has revealed. A ReachTEL survey, commissioned by the Together union, found Labor would receive 51 per cent of the vote, two-party preferred, after the allocation of respondent preferences, to 49 per cent for the LNP.

I would like to point out that I actually pay my staff around $2 extra per hour, as they do work very hard. So in return, I assumed/expected a little bit of flexibility from her. For her to claim mobile expenses is a bit rich, considering that I allow them to use the Wi-Fi in their lunch breaks.

Daniel Andrews seems to continue to be pretty good at his job all-round. One does wonder if he has federal ambitions. I don't know that he'd be better than a Bowen or a Plibersek, but at least at a state level he's really doing a very solid job.
