I'm pretty picky about my power metal, personally. There's so much boring-rear end cookie cutter euro power metal around it's downright depressing. I blame Stratovarius.

EDIT: I realize some people will likely find it quite ironic in light of what I just said, but loving hell I love Edguy.

I don't hate them like most people here seem to but they don't do it for me. They don't have the right kind of heaviness and are overly poppy in strange ways. I'll come back to them though. I do genuinely like their visual/audio "gimmick" but I wish they were more like Pallbearer + Blue Oyster Cult or something.

If we're just talking Motorhead worship, there's a few bands I've encountered over the years that really try to sound like Motorhead and got the rock-n-roll part of it down.

Jailbait, "The Western Metal" - Brazilian western-themed Motorhead worship.

Goethia, Spain's most Motorheaded dirty Motorhead worship. They call themselves black n roll, but they're less dirty than Venom.

Firebox, who don't sound all that much like Motorhead, but I like to recommend things in threes.

Gotta worship Motorhead, the best. Tough to compare to them, but I am digging the blazing guitar and whatnot on these, Goethia especially.

I thought it was dope and I enjoyed it much more than Vermiis, but yeah if you're over Ulcerate's schtick at all it probably won't change your mind.

Also, Brutally Deceased and Asphyx both released really fun death metal albums last year, so I'd add those to everyone else's recommendations.
