Can confirm that this rips. Any recommendations for other good metal bands with bass players that play that slap-bass style (neglecting nu-/rap-metal stuff, obviously)? Seems like it might go well with thrash or speed metal also.

Agreed. I still think its one of the best live albums period.

Something Wicked had some good songs too, along with Horror Show. I would say the first 5 were good poo poo, and Horror Show was decent. After that, yeesh.

How could you forget the "epic" song-in-3-movements they did about the Battle of Gettysburg (which was just called Gettysburg 1863 I think)? I mean other than the fact it's totally forgettable. Or from the same album, When The Eagle Cries, Schaffer's utterly awful 9/11 tribute song.

That album and the entire Iced Earth patriotism thing is what made me realize metal musicians are very dumb.

The only thing I remember about that album is an interview before it came out where Schafer talked a bunch about how Ripper's voice was going to allow him to write the types of vocal melodies he always wanted, and then laughing about that when it actually came out.

eh, the Gettysburg trilogy was decent if you went in not expecting the Something Wicked/Horror Show style, but the rest of that album was a total shitshow except for maybe Red Baron/Blue Max
