Oh, now I understand how somebody could have trouble with that quest. I did it as soon as I found it so I guess the scaling hadn't kicked in. Also the village is packed full of adorable robits

I guess they follow Big Daddy rules?

Which, yes, it's an argument, but it's not a new one.

And since TDI started doing the exact same thing in like the third update I can do it guilt-free! Also, Wonderslug I like that idea. I think my new headcanon as to why Pascal's village has machines that act childish and underdeveloped is because since they're not connected to the network they have to install like...centuries old OS backups that have started to degrade. If you're playing on Hard for whatever reason, do yourself a favor and crank it back down to Normal for this quest; the enemy machines hit a lot harder but the kid doesn't get any tougher. Or if he does, it doesn't seem to quite compensate. I certainly couldn't manage to keep him alive past the second ambush.

The Stubby is the basic building block of the universe. Most machines start as Stubbies, having both their own will/processing power and connected to the alien Tentaclebook. When a machine grows in experience or makes an argument to the tentacle book, it is upgraded. Many varieties of Stubbies reflect their teenage years when they claim that it's 'not just a phase, manufacturing plant!' and bolt armor and guns onto themselves. Some don't ever grow out of it - that's how you get medium armoreds. Eventually, a Stubby grows to understand the Tentaclebook network not only as a metaphysical society model, but also as a physical solution. Then they start joining up into bigger machines, which each indivudual Stubby happily taking his place in the machine much like a person takes his place in the society. Being a jetpack might not seem that special, but it's a hell of a lot more fun than being an accountant. Also, robots don't have accountans. The jetpack Stubby might have been a floating Stubby and some point, might have had dreams of flying. Anyways, every time he fires the engine, he knows he's helping. The small flyers are basically you motorcycle gangs while the mediums are freaky polyamorous families that can't shut up about their kink. The flying worms are basically Stubby 4chan: a faceless group of assholes that act like a Stubby centipede of jacking each other off for their awesome, android annoying idea and being cooler than the small flyers. The tall boys are an evolutionary dead end of an experiment designed to produce a Stubby that can pick up items that are above his head. However, the process of growth and joining is kind of slow, passionless and mechanical in the network. Besides, the network is trying to reverse engineer humans through outward imitation, failing to grasp such things like humans not being a hivemind. They're kinda failing, and Adam and Steve are the culmination of that failure: outwardly human, totally stupid inside. Meanwhile, some errant Stubby.exes decided that not being part of hivemind is a part of the human condition, and so they disconnected from the network to live and develop purely as individuals. That's how you get Pascal (who might have one day gotten the idea that heads needn't be perfectly spherical) and others who try to experience being human as a part of a network that's totally intangible: a real society. So they are learning to both act and look like humans. They are the closest to a functioning civilization worthy of imitation that they know (they killed the aliens because they weren't worthy, and the moose ain't talking). Of course, as the network is experiencing glitches and errors, so can individual Stubbies be corrupt and broken in mind, like the singer drone. The eyes might be an offshoot of some old signaling system in case the network went out or something, or maybe a diplomatic mode. Green means friendly, which signals other Stubbies to relax. Yellow means alert: there might be danger about. Yellow might be the default color of networked stubbies or machines in general. Red is the color of war, as we have seen with the attack telegraphs. A red eyed machine is out for trouble! Tune in next time when we discuss the links between the Moose and the survival of Cabbalah 11 thousand years in the future.

I've actually noticed in my own game that there is a spherical face-like shape on Pascal's backpack thing, he also has a large enough chest that his spherical head could be in there, much like Bender keeps wallets belonging to other people inside the empty cavity that is his stomach.

I have taken screenshots of him for cosplay reasons from several angles and I can't find the sphere? If you mean on the bottom of the "backpack", it's not round like all the Stubby faces, if you mean anywhere else... I don't see it. He's a weird machine anomaly, strictly speaking about his face. I mean, even Simone had a Stubby face in her design.
