This is one of those things that at its core has merit, it's harder for parents to have both the time and finances to raise children and our educational systems encourage children to overburden themselves with coursework and activities they don't really care about or want to do because "gotta get a job one day, but first I need to get into college and get scholarships to afford it". Of course they'll ignore the fact that income has effectively dropped and people need to work more to afford basic living expenses, let alone kids. Instead they'll just complain about the dirty feminists that said maybe women should do more than make babies or how kids don't respect their elders anymore.

If Gianforte wins I hope every DC reporter who ever needs a statement from him approaches him in the most antagonizing way; either super meekly, flinching any time he moves, or a whole "just try it" pushy approach like parody-Ben Jacobs from Gianforte's statement. In this situation where he wins and nothing happens from assaulting another human being in front of witnesses and on recorded audio, there's no way DC journalists aren't total dicks to this guy, right?

"When German Chancellor Angela Merkel visited President Donald Trump at the White House in March, she brought a visual aid to help Trump understand the menace posed by his would-be friend, Russian President Vladimir Putin. Merkel brought a 1980s map of the former Soviet Union and noted the way its borders stretched for hundreds of miles to the west of Russia’s current boundary, according to a source who was briefed on the meeting. The German leader's point was that Putin laments the Soviet Union’s demise and, left unchecked, would happily restore its former borders. Merkel left Washington unconvinced that Trump had gotten the message, the source said." The leader of Germany had to bring a loving visual aid to explain to the President of the United States of Goddamned America the state of affairs just 30 years ago.

So I went digging for a particular post wherein I wrote something to the effect of "my expectation is that ~35% of the country will go full fascist while the rest of us watch in horror and try to figure out what to do" and was not able to find it. (If anyone happens to remember that quote, would you pretty please be so kind as to post it here? I believe I wrote it in this thread, but it might have also been of the US Pol threads.) So while I did not find that quote, I did stumble upon some of my older material that is now suddenly very relevant now that the GOP is showing just how comfortable it is with open violence against reporters. I will be quoting several of these old posts and including a bit of commentary to put them in perspective, starting with the post below. This is from March 3rd, 2016. The context of this was outrage over the looming SSM SCOTUS decision. Here we can see several examples of GOP-establishment figures like Ted Cruz openly courting Narrativists by appealing to their inner narrative. In other examples we can see how the most extreme segemnts (what I call "high-compaction Narrativists") served as bellweathers for the growing violent extremism within Religious Cluster Narrativists as a reaction to the extreme narrative dysphoria resulting from legalized SSM. I predicted at the time that there was a strong potential for this situation to cause "narrative convergence"; the phenomenon wherein which one Cluster of Narrativists achieves a higher level of compaction and then drags other Narrativists Clusters up to the same level of compaction via changes in the language used by Narrativists to communicate with each other. In simplified terms I am arguing that the threat of legal SSM was percieved as so dire that it drove various Religious Cluster Narrativists to the brink of advocating violence and that certain GOP politician massively worsened this situation by attempting to coldly exploit the situation for political gain. (In the process of doing so they granted much greater perceived legitimacy to the calls for violence.) Over time the calls for increased extremism emanating out of the Religious Cluster gave social cover/fuel for other Clusters to become more radicalized themselves. The entire thing is a cycle feeding upon itself; a smoldering brush fire that amoral sociopaths poured kerosene on because they though they could control the fire enough to profit off the destruction. (They were very loving wrong.) Prester Jane posted:Within Narrativist circles Gay Marriage is a massive issue of supreme importance, and the only reason you are not hearing much about it is because the rhetoric has become so extreme that the mainstream media has more or less simply ignored it as there is no way to spin how bad it is becoming. Rachel Maddow seems to be one of the few exceptions to this so far.

The GOP likes to fetishize dicks almost as much as they like to preach against touching them.

The next president, regardless of party or how they got into office, had better invest in facial protection because the amount of asskissing and brown nosing needed to fix relations is gonna be a nightmare. First month alone might be alternating grovelling phone calls with actions to get the State Department functional again.

I'm saying we might have just witnessed "he choke-slam heard round the world" in regards to political norms in the US.

The following two posts are from August 11th and 12th, respectively. These posts show how eager the militia movement was for any pretense to carry heavy weapons around minority neighborhoods in a blatant act of intimidation. Although the militia's have been quiet for a bit as a result of the post-Malheur crackdown; that crackdown has been effectively ended by the Trump administration. As the militias realize it is safe to poke their heads in public again you can expect them to begin appearing at political rallies in support of pro-Trump protesters. Their is a very strong risk for violence erupting from a scenario wherein some group like Oathkeepers shows up armed to protect some Proud Boys and opens fire on some antifa/minority protesters.Prester Jane posted:Oathkeepers in full gear out walking with protesters in Ferguson and conducting patrols of neighborhoods. Bonus stump speech for how Trump will save the country if he is elected. Prester Jane posted:Stole this from the freep thread.
